For whatever reason, it took a little time before I realized that new Toyotas will shift into Reverse from Park by pushing Foreward instead of pulling back to Drive and then forward to Reverse) somewhat antithetically.

Some Lexus models use a short shift lever that doesn't really move very much. Those need to be pushed forwad (slightly) to get into Reverse and pulled back (slightly) to get to Neutral and Drive. Moving the lever seems to be just a minimal amount to make electrical contacts. Park is by a downward button press on the console, which seems to be an electrical brake lock.

I owe everyone an apology. We also own a new Prius and Crown Signia and I was thinking (not) the LC automatic worked the same way.
Kudos to someone actually owning up to a mistake and apologizing for it! A rare thing in today's society. (y)
