I hear a lot of conflicting information about chips. Mostly, they’re scams. However, could they provide a general improvement to the LC250?

Would love to hear your experiences.

Assuming your question is not rhetorical, then I don’t have a good answer for you.

I haven’t modded my LC FE at all - I’m new to all of this stuff, which is why I come here to ask questions.

I’ve never seen a YouTube reviewer come back and say that it could NOT do what it needed to do because if it’s stock tires. Every off-road test I’ve seen it go against others in class, earlier models, more expensive vehicles, or anything else - this crushes it.

It crushes it with stock tires. I don’t know what’s inherently wrong with the stock tires.

Yet, there are dedicated forums for the best tire to get immediately after purchase.

So… you got me!

I have NO idea what’s wrong with this thing. I’ll give you rear storage… but, I’ve thrown a tow hitch shelf and roof storage on the stock rack, and took the family out camping for several days with an obnoxious amount of material.

All that said, people talk about chips. I don’t have one, and never have. I want to learn about them though, and wanna know what they can do.

I don’t understand how aftermarket tuning can provide better performance, or gas mileage, or… Whatever it is that they provide.

Which is why I asked.

What does that do to the engine?

I feel like it is similar to pumping stimulant through your body. Like, it gets you a boost, but it’s not good over the long-term. I think if I had 600 hp, I would drive far worse than I do now.

There’s a reason I don’t get an average over 20 miles per gallon.

lol well the only reason why you can’t run e85 from the factory is the injectors. Based on the factory set up you can safely run E20-E30 with a tune. Once you past that you would need at least a set of 1300-2300 injectors and a better HPFP. This kit upgrades all of that with a tune mines the two things above. So pretty stout for a I4. Plus who doesn’t love more boost. Think of it as the alpha 1 of the LC250.

I put the evolv performance chip on my cruiser and it is a noticeable acceleration difference. The turbo is much more engaged and the entire acceleration is smooth. My wife hopped in it the other day and was pretty shocked about how much it changed the feel.

How is your experience with this chip now a few months in? Any noticeable change in mpg?

My mpg improved went up a half mile or so, but the peppiness was definitely there. I ended up getting it OTT tuned a few weeks ago, I am happy to send you the evolv chip if you are interested, it is now just sitting in my garage.
