2025 Land Cruiser Base - Heritage Blue
Anyone have the pedal commander? I have a buddy who just put it in his new f150 v8 and loves it. All the reviews are excellent. I love my Land Cruiser and the engine is definitely more than adequate, hoping to get a lot of miles/years out of it. That said, I wouldn’t mind if it was a little quicker. Thanks.

i used one in my 5th gen 4r and i swear by it. the settings need explaining as i find almost no one gets it right. city mode increase most of the pedal sensitivity on the first half of pedal depress. this gives it a jerky/lurching sensation. sport mode increases most of the sensitivity on the last half of pedal depress. the first half is also increased, but not as much as city. sport plus mode increases pedal sensitivity through the entire pedal depress so its city plus sport in one mode. i find sport mode is the most natural progression in pedal sensitivity and doesnt give it that crazy off the line lurching.

with that said - im saving my money for the ott tune when it is available.

Waste of money IMO for the 250, its already built-in with ECO, Normal and Sport mode already changing pedal sensitivity, steering response and shifting points.

I have one on my Tundra because the throttle was so sensitive it was hard to start out in a smooth manner and it worked well for that, I just don't have any issues with the throttle on the 250 either on or off road.

Agreed on OTT tune when available it should be an all around game changer in improving drivability, smoothness while giving a decent torque & hp gain and will likely towing with the 250 as well.

X2 on not needed on the LC.

I have one on my Taco, love it....... stays in sport mode.

I get the throttle enhancer called Fukin' Tuned on my taco four banger cuz the low-end is crap... it kine of helps, but I concur with the consensus. No need for our LCs, save your script for one real tune like OTT.

Interesting. I figured it would help with quicker acceleration, but this is why I’m asking for experienced opinions. I don’t find sport more in the 250 all that better.

What’s the OTT? My understanding is that tuning could affect the reliability and longevity of the engine, as well as warranty issues? I am aware that tuning is a better investment when appropriate.

Misconception, any throttle enhancer just increases throttle sensitivity... where a fully depressed pedal could come in at one quarter pressed or half, whatevs you set it to.

If you load a tune in your LC, you better be able to re-load your OEM tune should you ever need to take it into the dealer as it will void your engine warranty. Now there are some dealers that are kind of digging the better tune and might honor your warranty. I had my F250 at the dealers for blown head gaskets, and the 1st question from the warranty folks was "is there any evidence of an enhancement device" , I sort of knew the guy and he simply said "no" any they covered the repair for the tune of 10k.

IDK if Toyota's TIS would be able to tell if a tune had been recently loaded, but I believe it would ........ so unless the tech was friendly I think any warranty concerning the engine would be denied. If You have a very good story as to why it was recently flashed, you might sneak by.

Just my opinion tho'

I figured as much about voiding the warranty. Appreciate the responses.

Well, "better" is a subjective term, but personally I find that, compared to "normal mode", when in "sport mode" it definitely jumps off the line a bit quicker with a more sensitive throttle, and tends to rev higher between shift points as well, giving a bit more power from the gas engine. As an added effect/consequence, I find that "sport mode" is great for hilly, winding, rural roads because the higher rpms provide more engine braking which helps to control speed and handling a bit better in those conditions compared to normal mode, at least that's my opinion.

Check out the Banks Pedal Monster. IMHO, it is a better unit and offers some benefits over the PdlCm, mainly when it comes to reverse and still reverting to stock if the unit fails.

I just put a Banks PM on my F150 and it does improve things (still playing with the settings). What the F150 has is a delay in the accelerator, which can be annoying (though you get used to it). The Banks takes that delay out, it also does some remapping. So far, I like it, but it (they) are expensive for what you are “correcting.”

Honestly, I don’t feel it is necessary or beneficial on the Land Cruiser, the delay on the F150 just isn’t present on my LC enough to warrant one, imho. I was fine with my ‘19 and now ‘25 F150, but the LC really made the delay in the Ford noticeable to me. I wasn’t looking for “extra power”, “quicker times”, and all that jazz, I just wanted to reduce the delay. You change the settings on a BT app with the Banks, so you can dial it down if you are towing, or in bumper to bumper traffic, or put it back in stock mode. It does work, if the cost is worth it would be the real question, but it definitely isn’t a gimmick.

“Misconception, any throttle enhancer just increases throttle sensitivity”, the PC, yes. The Banks is actually taking the delay (on a Ford) out of the equation. Again, not necessary on our LC’s imho.

Appreciate the detailed responses… very helpful. I’m coming from a Ram with the hemi mild hybrid, which isn’t quick, but the power is unmistakable. So, I guess I’m still adjusting to the differences. Also, my wife has an X5 with the b58 engine, which is just amazing. And to be clear, I love my LC and do not find it slow, just wish it was a little quicker from the go.

I have the pedal commander on my 17 silverado. Makes it run like a totally different truck. The response (in sport mode) is immediate. Personally, I wouldnt install one on the LC at the moment. Sport mode is sufficient for speeding into the highway. Mostly afraid it would void the warranty 😅

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 is a federal law that protects consumers by stating that a manufacturer cannot void a warranty solely because aftermarket parts or modifications including engine tuning.

The burden is on them to prove that the modification caused the issue.

On topic though, Pedal commander is a waste of money. Especially on the LC250
