Funny you say this, I have a customer that has a tobacco barn on his property with a cement floor and all sorts of lighting indoors. In the midst of the barn there is a large Air Stream parked / set-up. Last thing I would have expected. Rather cool

Thanks! I was hoping someone would chime in with experience. Looks like you're using a WDH, curious what brand and what your tongue weights looks like? Have you tried without the WDH and if so- what was the squat and trailer manners like? After reading the manual- it only mentions using a WDH if the trailer is over 5000lbs, but also mentions sway control above 3000lbs(?).
Also did you get the factory solar-linthium package? Thoughts on boondocking using the LC's 2400 watt inverter?

Oh man, I have so much to say about these questions. A phone call would be easier. Hah. I’ll try to summarize though.

I have towed without the WDH an it’s completely fine at low speeds and while parking the airstream. I think the highway speeds is where it helps with sway. The weight distribution is less important. In fact I lowered the connnection points where it attaches to the camper so that it pushes down less than it used to. This applies slightly less downward force so it removes a little less of the weight than it used to.

Solar wise, I bought the camper here lithium was an option. I did purchase the “solar package” back when I bought it in 2022, though all that was was. 90w panel up top and a controller under the bed. Still it was a leg up.

I’ve since removed the AGM batteries and installed two 200ah lithium batteries under the bed (which removes tongue weight, cause torque hah). I then added two 200w flexible panels to the roof. Now it more the sustains itself with the help of a 100w briefcase solar panel.

The last step was to throw out the 110 AC and swap it with a 12V one. Now it’s an incredible boondocking setup. I’ve done lots of it. The airstream Bambi came quite low to the ground so I installed a 3” lift.

So many mods and there are more that I’m leaving out but it’s really solid now.

We also like the Intech Sol series trailers as well. Seem to be very well made. My friend sells RVs and says Airstream quality has fallen far the last several years. My brother in law owned one and agreed.
