2023 4Runner and new Land Cruiser Premium ordered
Good morning all, we just received our LC Premium last week and began to set some things up. I finally got the memory seats working after I found a video on moving the drivers seat fully forward then back as well as tilting the back of the seat fully forward and then all of the way back. This apparently resets the seats so that they can be programmed.
I’ve heard that you can also set the key fobs to work similarly so that when each driver approaches the vehicle, the seat will adjust to their specific seat adjustments. Has anyone had any success with setting this up yet?
Thank you!

This is a pretty common problem with the seat memory. The stealership is Supposed to do this on their delivery inspection. As they have not done this on your vehicle I would also check the tire pressures. That is another thing that they neglect to do in their inspection. The tires should be set at 33.

Well, you were able to figure it out, I wonder why TRDjon is taking his LC to the dealer to deal with it (and investigate some squeaks and rattles, lol). Bet he sells it as soon as he has his hands on a 4Runner.

[And, to the OP's question, we did set this up successfully in the LC following the directions in the manual; our RAV4 Prime is still a bit hit/miss with the feature.]

I don't know who he is, but I am assuming that he is an influencer and well influencer aren't always going to do something when their sponsor or company they are close with will do it for them and bend over backwards while they are at it.

Funny story about an influencer, this particular influencer was hawking Hello Fresh.

My wife and I subscribed to Hello Fresh already but we were having a heck of time with delivery.

The contracted last mile company in my area was not getting the order to me 3 out of 4 times, it was insane at how bad they were.

I reached out to the influencer, he was and is known to respond to viewers and he said that he could not promise anything, but he would reach out to his rep at Hello Fresh and see what they could do for me.

Moreover he was unhappy to hear about a product he actually believed in and uses himself was giving one of his viewer trouble.

About four days later I got a call from someone at Hello Fresh corporate about the issue, they immediately took ownership of the issue and worked with the last mile delivery company to fix the issue with my deliveries.

While their intervention did improve things, VEHO was and is still a mess.

Interesting. I feel like my seat memory is wonky. I may have to try this.

So a few notes on the memory seats and being linked to keys.

Memory seats are tied to user profiles.
Each user profile has its own memory positions.
Each user profile can be linked to a key.
The system should automatically load the user profile for each driver based on which key is in the car.
The system will automatically move the seat, steering wheel, and mirrors, IF the car is locked and then unlocked using the key fob for the assigned driver profile.
You can change between users via the infotainment regardless of what key is used, in that situation it should prompt you if you want to load the assigned memory system.
Gauge setup is also linked to user profiles.

Can you share the video you found? I still can't get my memory seats working.

IIRC, his LC was a demo vehicle prior to him having it, and he said that memory seat feature wasn't activated at all because of that (wasn't just an issue of needing to "reset" it), so it was on the list of stuff for the dealership to check-out and/or take care of.

He has also recently said that they will be selling the LC in a couple of months once they have the 6th gen 4Runner and have been able to do some side-by-side testing with both of them, so he will have had it about a year...but overall I feel his reviews of the LC have been pretty positive compared to a lot of the other "YouTube guys".

Compared to most of the other "influencer" personalities on YouTube and such in this realm, I find his content to be tolerable...it helps that he's pretty much exclusive to Toyota trucks and SUVs like the 4R or LC, and tends to have realistic expectations and provides honest feedback and reviews. Definitely watched a good bit of his content when I was considering my purchase.

Yeah his stuff is generally informative and doesn’t seem to rely too much on click-baity negative videos.

As have I in the past when I was waiting for delivery (back when he was positive about the LC).

I did recently dip a toe again since he's now covering the 4Runner, and as an example of his persistent flakiness, in the recent LC video he complained about the iForce Max engine, while in the subsequent 'new 4Runner' video he praised the exact same engine/transmission up and down. 'Different tuning blah blah blah' will be the reasoning, but the whole schtick fits the formulaic YouTube approach perfectly... and transparently. Most of these YouTubers are bunch of hacks who are competent editing video, but only The Car Care Nut and Tinkerer's Adventure hold much credibility with me. Maybe Automotive Press as well, but I get tired of the constant gap-measuring in panels rather than going out and using the vehicle (I realize his take is specific to his experience as an engineer with Toyota, and I respect that). There's the occasional gem like jumping the LC in the CA dunes and the recent (inadvertent?) jumping of the LandRover going up against the LC (in the UK, or wherever), but generally it's all just entertainment.

Until this bulletin board (do they still call them that?), I had never heard of any of these YouTube folks, but I have looked up a few of the names that seem to come up a lot here such as the Car Care Nut.

A close friend of mine is a powertrain engineer with BMW in Germany and I have bounced questions off of him from time to time when working on my BMWs that I am unable to solve myself. As well I have forwarded him YouTube videos from content creators who focus on BMW to get his takes as an engineer. The only YouTube creator he thinks is worth anything in the BMW space is a guy in Frankfurt Germany (M539 Restorations). The rest he describes as good looking folks who are also good with Davinci Resolve or some other editing software.

He was recently visiting the States and I lent him my Land Cruiser while he was in town and he had a number of take aways about the vehicle, mainly that he was very impressed with it.

It took him a while to figure out how to adjust things as the Toyota menu system is so different than how BMW or Land Rover (the two car brands he personally own) do things, but he eventually figured it out. He also did not like how Toyota implemented somethings for example, he really hated how Toyota implemented the driver attention monitor, but in general he gave the LC high marks. High enough marks that he may look into buying one when he returns home to Germany to replace his ageing Discovery LR4 which he says breaks down more than any car should.

While he was staying at my place, we watched a few videos by the Car Care Nut so that I could get his take as a powertrain engineer for a vehicle manufacturer and he said for a guy with no formal engineering education (at least that he talks about), he knows his stuff. He disagreed with a thing here or there, but in general he was impressed with the guys understanding of how the underlying engineering of complex systems works.

What does all this mean? I have no idea, just figured I would add to the commentary since we are talking about YouTube personalities.
