Land Cruisers Not Safe in Canada???

You can almost guarantee that 0 retrofits for enhanced security for current customer Toyotas will be authorized or available from dealers as a measure of goodwill. Toyota will instead be happy to sell you a brand new vehicle that has the upgrades installed at the factory.
It's a dealer installed option, I doubt they'll block it on older LC's.

My dealer is advertising it on their site cheaper than Toyota.ca and the ad text implies they'll install it on LC's that are already sold.

Hi all. Trying to figure out what to do with our 2025 LC. It was stolen once and somehow recovered. I interrupted a thief a few weeks ago, so managed to have it not stolen a second time. The issue is that they smash out the glass and rip the dash apart before they figured out that they can't steal it due to a Ghost Immobilizer and an OBD2 port blocker. I'm assuming from a brief search that the IGLA system is similar to the Ghost Immobilizer system.
The new problem I'm having is that people keep smashing windows, which is expensive. Are there any solutions out there for unbreakable windows? I'm not into buying bullet proof windows, the price tag is in excess of $100k. I've heard of non-glass windows that are virtually unbreakable, but can't find anything that has been made for the LC.

is it street parked? Or is this happening while you're running errands around town?

Sory I was thinking of the hardened CAN Bus architecture that is installed at the factory.

I'm on my third month waiting for an allocation, and now I'm seriously questioning my decision. Even with a third party immobilizer, dealing with the potential attempted theft alone is still rattling. It doesn't help that someone in my neighborhood had their Lexus GX stolen within the last month so now it's hitting even closer to home.

Like I'm getting out of my Rover into a Toyota for the guise of reliability, and instead that worry is replaced by the possibility of theft.
Hate to tell ya but it affects ALL vehicles,....thus a kill switch if concerned.

The frequency with which these cars specifically are being targeted in Canada isn't an all vehicle problem. They're rare enough that you almost never see them, and it appears that when they pop up, a thief will try to steal it regardless of the immobilizer/kill switch.

Thanks for sharing this, good to know why he actually sold and not from being bullied by other YouTubers.

For reference the intro to this.

Apparently Tacos are a big target for theft in CA. But, this is the first I’ve heard of LC’s being a target in NA. I could see a LC200, since the prices are ridiculous.

Not in CAN, maybe I should start sticking mine in the garage lol. Someone steals my LC, I’m going all “Taken” on the thief, take the F150.
