This is probably not gonna happen. I see a lot of conflicts in the design. But if they really do that it might be something I’d consider to divorce my till-death-do-us-apart vows with my Prado sooner.

I ponder at times what some people mean by "off Road"

Based on the prototype this is the only "offroading" that vehicle would ever do. Basically the same as a Ferrari.

When I think "offroading" This photo is where the definition starts, and it works itself more trecherous from there. Am I way off base? No chance Im taking that van on this road

I agree with you in spirit - but those photos both look like an easy road you could take any vehicle on. I’d put them both in the same category of “a fun gravel road to get to the off-roading.”

But yes, that minivan thing in the OP isn’t leaving any roads.

To each their own, but often my off-roading makes the bottom photo look like child's play.
Agreed, but as posted above that is where the definition starts for me. A smooth road with no camber isnt offroad yet.

**Also the photo doesnt do the elevation change on the secod phhoto any justice. A 2wd vehicle isnt making it up that hill.

If your off-roading doesn't look like this, then you are NOT REALLY off roading and you are probably a big wimpy baby (compared to me, a real off roader!)

But for real, (and back on topic) I often think that a lifted Sienna would be kinda cool!

You got confused about something. A PoC vehicle is not “prototype” we often see in its clay build in the earliest form. Many things on that minivan will have 0% reaches the market in North America. Just that camper-like seating arrangement would violates the safety standard so much already. So a production build will HAVE TO change more than just a little bit.

But I do think that because Toyota are reusing their platform SO MUCH these days it have a chance we see a minivan reuse that ladder frame and more capable suspension to build a higher center of gravity version of minivan. They would probably have trouble to convince normal family buyers but a small volume experiments would not be a big challenge for them both technically or financially.

Your offroad truck does not fly? It can’t be right…

BTW you must be talking about this Sienna.

Not my cup of tea but this would sell like crazy with van focused car camping types. Toyota sienna’s are already their top pick. VW synchros are $$$$$$, the Honda Element was a great and similar, so this could be a dual use adventure/daily driver for families and would fit both use cases better than a sprinter van or plain minivan.
