Though I start this thread with Transmission information grouped in one place.

Note: when replacing fluid.

Automatic transmission fluid

  • If 50000 or more is displayed for the Data List item "ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate", thermal degradation of the ATF is suspected. Perform ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate Reset after replacing the ATF.
  • Perform ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate Reset after replacing approximately 50% or more of the total ATF volume in procedures such as transmission repair.

Note: Transmission fluid temperature faults set at the following points, pretty dang hot before it sets a code. Sensor 1 appears to be in the return coolant loop (conditioned or cooled fluid) and Sensor 2 is in the pan, which is also alarming if true according to Toyota documentation since some have reported pretty high temps and nothing is monitoring the hottest part the outlet temp. I believe this to be true since the factory temp sensors on my 2012 Tundra and 1991 80 series are in the same locations (confirmed physically).

There is much more information in TIS but for the most part beyond this it involves major repairs/troubleshooting.

Trucool transmission cooler universal kit, confirmed with KAON this is the same core they use in the kit that won't fit US models because of our intercooler and their lack of intercooler and bracket design.

Thank you for doing this @Bad1975. I don’t know if I will ever delve into this type of thing, but it’s good to know that there is information here should I go there!
