JDM Mud Guards with US Fitment

Currently from Japan they can be sourced for $350 (plus/minus) plus tax and typically free shipping. So, somewhere in the realm of sub $400.00.

StickerFab: Not that I care what you are paying for them from your Japanese source, however, are you planning on being sub $400ish as well with the modifications performed?
Yes sub 400. If things go right I don't think the upcharge for the modification needs to be that much.

Does anyone know if the JAOS front mud guards fit ok on a USDM LC? Maybe a quick solution would be JAOS up front and JDM Toyota in the back. Interestingly the JAOS installation instructions seem to allow adjustments for outboard or inboard fitment depending on if you have installed fender guards or have wider wheels/tires.

You have me interested. Let me see how much these would cost me.

I bought factory set from Japan. For front, took off stock mud guards and placed over new ones to sketch exact cut lines to match. Cut out easy and really no need to file edges to perfection as the cut-out edges are not visible at all IMO. That said, would have preferred receiving pre-cut to perfection!

Good to know I can just use the stock one as a template. Thank you.

Also testing out some mud flaps from a well known US brand today. Woo woo.

Hello,

I have a great supplier in Japan from my past life with SubiSpeed / FT Speedfactory / RallySport Direct. Was wondering how many people would be interested in pre-modified OEM parts that you don't have to cut.

Some of you may know the flaps from Japan require modification for the front ones to fit properly. I'm going to grab a set and see what I can do with them. Goal is to make nice clean cuts so you don't have to go crazy on them with a knife.

Hey! It worked! These do have free shipping in the lower 48. The extra charge covers my labor and provides some insurance as any process has risks.

How much wider are they vs. the factory (non-FE) ones? I notice those barely cover the tread on my 275/60R20 winter tires and when I switch to 45 offset wheels with 265 or 275/70R18 tires those might poke out a little beyond what I have now.

The Rally Armor or the JDM ones? Can you measure yours? I already sent the two sets I had out but will measure next time. Thanks.

Either probably? Are the Rally Armor the ones with an XL size that’s an inch wider and an inch longer? The inch wider might be good but the inch longer probably not so much.

Stock Land Cruiser trim flaps — the front ones are 9” wide, back are about 10 3/4” wide. Both come pretty much straight down from the mounting points, and taper. I’ll attach some photos.

Front:

From the front, I have to use an angle because you can’t see the stock flap behind the tire.

From flap from behind, phone held against the door, just barely covered the tread on these 275/60R20 tires on stock 20” wheels:

Rear flap from the front:

And from behind lined up with the side of the Land Cruiser. Better than the front but still not great.

I'll collect orders for a week or so and order try to forecast how many I need.

You can use the above link or add the USDM prep version to cart and use coupon code "lcforum".

@CFC @ekkoville

Thank you!

For the Rally Armor these may not be the final measurements especially in the rear. I have another rear coming this week that should be able to handle more poke.

Does the discount only apply if we get the flaps that you have modified for the USDM?

I wish I would have known about this option before I just got done with a hacky trim of the ones I ordered myself:

Any idea when the rallyarmour will be out and if they’ll work on a 1958 without modification? I like the JDM, but can’t see spending $400 on mud flaps, especially given replacement cost of damaging them. Also, I looked at a new First Edition over the weekend and rust was starting around the strap brackets on the FE flaps, which turned me even more off the JDM. RokBlokz seems like a good option and are out, but they aren’t made for the 1958 and require modification.

Where did you see rust forming?
