Jack for lifting LC on the road

This is a question Iโ€™ve been pondering as well. Iโ€™ll be interested to see if there are better alternatives that arenโ€™t huge.

Those bottle jacks that Toyota has equipped vehicles with for ever is gonna be fine for changing a flat. I usually carry a few small 2x4 maybe 4-5 inch long they can come in handy.

Fix the flat is way easier and wayyy safer.
Helped a few out this way.

I prefer a scissors type jack. I purchased this one from amazon, it works pretty well. The hand held lug nut unscrewer (some call an impact, but it ain't) isn't worth the money. I caught it on sale, Cyber Monday, for $40 bucks so no harm done.

I cut off the cigar lighter plug and spliced a 12v pig tail on the jack, tossed the plastic case and just keep the jack in the vehicle.

Did a Power Tank repair for a friend recently on a dirt road.
Way safer. Easier, quicker.

I used the factory jack on a dirt road. changed out the tires in a sandy shoulder. i had a sidewall blowout, so the PSI was dropping really fast on the dash and I didn't have many pullover options. it was sketchy and I didn't feel good removing the flat tire. I have now a hi-lift base - i'd recommend at least something for a base. even a 2x6 piece or something. even better the safe jack or scissor that EOD has.

Yeah, I usually carry a couple of 2x6x12s, I think I'll go with the electric scissor jack. I trust the scissor jacks more.
