Is there fake engine noise in the 2024 Land Cruiser?

In the Carista app there is an option to disable the engine sound enhancement. So, I believe there are some fake engine sounds. I turned it off on mine and it seemed to make the engine sound quieter.

I did the same and expected to hear a difference.. either I'm deaf, or it didn't have any noticeable effect. I can still hear the turbo noise a bit with the stereo turned down, and it sounds the same as before. I did leave the noise cancellation feature on...

Same here. I turned the engine sound enhancement off and left ANC ON. I haven’t noticed any difference in the sound levels in the cabin.

I don't know about putting engine noise into the cabin over the sound system, but I have this question:

Can anyone confirm that at low speeds when solely on electric, this LC plays a whiny sound like the other annoying electric vehicles in a parking lot (for safety so you don't run silent and hit a pedestrian).

I think mine does and I dislike it intensely. I did not hear it when I test drove it with 2-10 miles on it and the hybrid battery was not fully charged. But now, when the battery is charged and I'm running on electric only at slow speeds, for instance approaching a stop sign, I hear it.
Or am I hearing something else?

Yes, I hear it, and believe it's what Toyota calls "acoustic vehicle alerting system" (pg 71 in manual. See image attached) .
It only sounds when in full electric. The pitch goes up as the speed increases, and then the sound goes away when the 4cyl engine kicks in.
I haven't tried toggling the engine sound enhancement setting through the Carista app, so not sure what that does, but I highly doubt it's associated with this electric driving safety sound.

Tundra does have the sound pumped into the cab.
1958 - Does not pump engine sound into the cabin. The setting is listed on Carista but shutting it off does nothing.

As a software engineer I can absolutely imagine copy pasting the code from another Toyota that does have it and calling it a day.

No engine sound enhancement on the LC250. It is noted when connecting via GTS+ (Official Toyota connection software/interface) that the feature will appear but is not applicable to the 250 it also notes that it is applicable to the GX550.

Not a software engineer, but an engineer nonetheless, and yes. Especially so when the application’s DNA is developed w/ cross-platform usage in mind.

Not saying Toyota did it here, just that it would be of zero surprise to me.

Old thread of huge value... I'd sticky this!!!! How to zone etc. I have already made my list to be done before delivery. I own an EV so no noise is better than fake noise for example.

If they are pumping noise into the cabin, did they let a deaf person do it? If they are pumping that noise into the cabin they should be shot.

It is mentioned multiple times in this thread that “engine sound enhancement” does not exist in LC250…
