I’m giving this a go this weekend. MXT275 in glovebox. Fuse tap for power from the passenger panel. Shielded cat6 cable from glovebox to Aliexpress port on the center console panel (1958 with no buttons in use on it). Antenna out the passenger side firewall across the engine bay (perhaps around) and up driver side windshield to rack mount.

Sounds like a good project ahead! I will likely be doing similar soon. Happen to have a link to the pass through / port you purchased? Can’t seem to locate it.

I think I fuse tapped wrong place. I got mine from under the hood driver's side, but I recall maybe something inside.

How did you pass thru the firewall on the passenger side?

There is a rubber plug on the sides of the engine compartment.

Using a cheap endoscope from Amazon helped me navigate and pull the wires through.

Install went pretty good. Still can keep manual in glovebox and added a 12v outlet to the dash while I was at it.

I've only so far seen ICOM that have a clean look (), but I think it's a faceplate. There is another guy easy to find "TrailRecon" - he has an instagram and youtube channel with details as well with ICOM installed in a 250. I'm going to put this on hold till after summer - I am too busy with prepping for another coast-to-coast.

I guess I'm the only guy who thought it was great to just toss the Midland mobile underneath the seat, use the rear cigarette lighter port, stick the hand mic into a rubber side storage pouch on the console, and run the wiring up through the rear hatch for the antenna - then calling it good
