Heavy Overnight Rain Leak

And, state to state and province to province and territory to territory and.....

The point remains the same.
Agreed. And Toyota hates lemon-law-ing vehicles so they usually will do a buyback before that happens to protect their metrics.

I have a 1958 with no OEM roof rack and just found a leak. The side rear markers were coming on after it rained and they found loose bolts, no sealant and extensive water damage. Water coming down the door pillars and in to the back. Mildew smell after it rains. I have only had this truck a few months so not like I let this happen for a long time. This is a nightmare and no real solution in sight.
Welcome to the asylum.

Dealership has offered a buyback but I have already pulled $8K into the truck and they aren't going to cover any of that. So I am going to send all of this into the province (we have protection laws against this here) and to Toyota and try and make some noise. We will see what happens. For now they are replacing the roof rack interior pieces and bolts and sealing it "properly" whatever that means. If they had another one I could exchange and move the parts over I would consider it. Saga continues.

Assuming the $8k is modifications - why would Toyota cover this? That’s on you.

Well sir that is part of the dilemma isn't it? I put mods into truck that I thought was sound. It is not. I do not have an option to take the mods off and put on to another truck at the moment. So for the buy back it would be to remove what I can ( I also added an immobilizer which cannot be removed or transferred due to our trucks being able to be stolen with an iPad) and then sell or wait for another LC to put them on. If I sell I will get a fraction of what I paid (obviously) I get that it is not their responsibility but it is an inconvenience caused by their product not performing. It was more stating that I am going to be in the hole no matter what I do. So yeah it's on me.

I hope you get a good solution!
