Heavy dashcam falling off, hardware mounting options / solutions?

Maybe your issues have to do with your tinting. Are you having issues with your rear camera staying on too?

The cameras are great, the only issue I have is that they don't have an off switch.

I’ve got a BlackVue as well and used the blend mount. It disappears behind the rear mirror from the driver seat and I don’t really see it.

Suspecting it could be tied to the tint, I looked at the make up vs what the tape says it won’t work with and didn’t see a conflict, but I’m not a materials engineer (just realized I do know one so I’ll ask).

The rear one I was able to cheat a bit with using a bracket assembly that I guess is common enough for rear channels, so of course, no issue there.

Now to find threads on removing the trim to get a bit more slack out of my wires.

My rear cam keeps falling off now. I think it might heat cycles from the rear defrosted that’s affecting the adhesive.

Yeah at this point I've given up on adhesive on glass. There are plenty of brackets and universal brackets out there that should work out for the rear. I have a little bracket that the installer put in for my rear channel BlackVue and it's held up well.

Mine rear cam isn’t on glass, it’s on the plastic under the other camera.

3M VHB tape. It's expensive but it works really well.

Windshield Tint: Ceramic tint on the windshield (XPel XR Plus Ceramic Series) -- cause of my issue? Non-optimal adhesion?

Gorilla Heavy Duty Double Sided Mounting Tape ("in-use temp. up to 248F"

Considered using LOCTITE 402 Ultra Performance between the tape and the windshield, but fear this could screw up the tint, void its warranty, then fall off anyway (open to feedback here)

Older post I know, but someone bumped it. I just got the latest version of this BlackVue- 2.15 lbs?

The entire box didn’t seem to weigh that much- will have to throw it on the scale.

I ran an older version of this cam for years, and removed it from the original mounting tape only when having a cracked windshield replaced. I got some replacement tape from the manufacturer to re-mount the cam on my replacement windshield and was a little concerned because the new tape was smaller but it too held like a champ. I always clean the windshield with Invisible Glass, then hit the area the tape is going to stick to with 99% isopropyl alcohol. I attach the bracket the camera clicks into, let it set for 24 hours before putting the camera in. With this technique I had to use a trim tool to remove my cam when I traded in the Jeep.
