The headlight display and shadow problem is real. Low beam shines very low forward, and there is a distinct line from the light to the dark ahead. Also there is definitely a shadow shape of some sort of low beam odd shape display that is primarily oriented toward the drivers side. A night driving safety issue in my opinion.

I have the rounds (on a First Edition) and they are great--best lights I have ever had. Better by far than the '22 BMW X7 I just sold, which had great lights. And almost identical (definitely not worse) to the coverage provided by the Morimoto XB Evo LED headlights I just put on my wife's 4Runner. Not sure how the rounds do not provide sufficient light but would suggest checking the adjustment before dumping money on switching from rounds to rectangles.
Headlights are user adjustable with regards for the throw distance. The knockouts/shadows that appear towards the drivers side are there to mitigate blinding oncoming traffic.
Why?
That shadow I see on the low beams looks like a triangle and is manufactured that way according to the dealership. Definitely think it’s a safety concern so I’m having them run it up the chain.

I performed this exact swap. Bought this package from EdMartin Toyota. I installed it myself, not a biggie. After the install I got the "Headlight initialization required" message or something like this.
Since I dont have the GTS+, I went to a Toyota Dealership for this procedure (by the way, I live in Romania, not in the US). They did something... and when I got the car back I had no warning messages on dash.
I took the car and with the entire family went on holiday. On the road I noticed that, although the lights were working and no warning message, the auto-levelling function, the auto-high beam and strangely enough the headlights washers were not working anymore....
I was out of the country and found a big Toyota Dealership (Toyota Budapesta) and drove the car there.
They worked on the car for 7 hours, took it all apart and put it back (check the headlights install) and said they find nothing wrong. They assume is the fact that the headlights "are not European".
The bonus was, since then, I have all the time a warning message on the dash "headlights malfunction" (the lights are working but no "smart" functions.
When I got back home, I took the car to the first dealership (where they performed the initialization, I had no warning but also no smart functions) The say there is nothing they can do, they dont know whats wrong and that I should go back to the original rectangular headlights. They said, I have the error message on the dash because the rear axle height sensor receives no voltage. They assume it's because of the headlights ECU. All fuses and cables are in order (I never took the car offroad).
I took the car to the 3rd dealership. They said the same thing. That I should go back to the rectangular headlights.
I really dont want to do that (especially after spending close to 3000 usd...)
If you have any ideas .... please help

Thanks for pointing that out. I was thinking about buying the circle headlights too, but now I’ll have to think twice about it. I know there are Chinese replicas out there, but I want the genuine OEM ones and I want them to work properly on the European-spec version of the car.Hi Eric!

I don’t know what to say about Chinese replicas… kind of an expensive car for Chinese replica headlights… I had the original complete Toyota round headlights setup, and it’s been a handful. In fact… I still have them,

Right now, I'm looking for a place where I can buy used or new headlights for European cars. But it's hard to find anything.
I changed my lights from triple to single eye. Then visited the dealership to program the lights malfunction message and they done the removal of the error message. However, although I bought the high grade ones (first edition with modules) despite sadly none of the smart functions are working. No welcoming at start, no led tuning on when opening the vehicle, no adaptive, no automatic hi beam.
Currently, I will continue to use them regardless of the mentioned downfalls and Im not going back in to the triple headlights ever as they are very ugly.
Moreover, I would recommend looking at these after market OME+ ( I found the Ad in this form) as they over the smart function. Although, I invested around 3500$ I would consider them in future.

I did the swap, rectangle to round. No issues since they were takeoffs from another LC. Plug and play. About $4k all said and done if you buy from a dealer. The lights need to be calibrated at the dealer. But if you get lights from another LC your all set.

You need to visit another Toyota technician, preferably, one that works at an enthusiast shop which deals with modified Toyotas. Good techs will find the issue, although, you may need to pay an hour or two hours of labor for diagnostics to do it. Dealers aren't going to be any help once you deviate slightly from OEM, and even though this is OEM, it's not OEM to that model of LC.I changed my lights from triple to single eye. I really like the alpharex ones a lot too. I actually like the rectangle lights, would just love to change it up.
Thank you for providing me some hope that this could be eventually fixed… It will great to find or generate a step by step video (similar to the headlights replacement video) for the programming side including the software name and the high grade features activation.
