I ran into the same problem and just left it out. Found out later there is a plastic cap on the frame you need to remove before install in order to use that long bolt that goes all the way through the box beam of the frame. I put my mine on last September and have had no issues with just leaving the bolt off.

Thanks for that. I am thinking I will do the same, just leave it for now; it is mostly going to be used as a steep, perhaps some offroad but not much rock crawling in FLA. The cap was not obvious to me and I must have missed it in the installation video. They really should have some pictures.

These are at the top of my list but one thing I’m hung up on is they seem to be a little short. Like they should be about 2" longer at each end.
It looks like they leave a bit of the rocker close to the wheels exposed.
I wonder if they just used the design from the 5G 4R and changed the mounting arms.
I hope I’m not making that glass breaking sound for anyone who already owns these, and I know it would take a very specific rock to get that little bit of rocker panel that looks exposed at each end.

Does it look better in real life?
Someone please tell me these are perfect and this isn’t an issue.

Not sure about door dings but mine did a good job fending off a E350 van.

Question for you guys running these; how well have they held up against large rocks and or trees out on the trails? I really like them and the weight(or lack thereof), but don't want to pull the trigger if they can't actually protect our truck. I don't plan to be doing any hard-core rock crolling, but do want to feel confident when tackling moderate to mid level trails up in the mountains of CO, CA, WA, etc. Thanks!!

I’d love to hear if anyone has used these on rocks also.
I bought them with a similar idea.
I don’t plan to hit or slide them on rocks on purpose, but wanted something there in case (when) I get into a trail that I’m glad I have some protection.
They seem like they'll do the job for occasional hits.

Nope. I'm no help, but I'll answer anyway since I'm curious about other's results and I want to keep the thread alive.

I think I easily have a few hundred miles of dirt driving in WA State, but it's really just muddy forest/timber roads with dirt potholes. I just checked them and they're dirty but there's not a scratch on them. I needed a step for family members, and I wanted to make sure they weren't plastic for when I do eventually hit something. I know they're not as hardy as steel, but I didn't want the weight and I (correctly, I guess) didn't think I actually be in the rocks much.

I like them.
