Hi everyone. Anyone find/ have any experience tracking down a proper skid plate for the fuel tank? Much to my dismay looking underneath it looks like only about half of it is protected by a factory plate. this is a real shame given that the GX550 looks like it gets a full skid plate from factory.

I know for a fact the GX550 fuel tank skid is not a direct bolt on for the LC! It's close but will have to be bent in order to clear the LC fuel tank. Additionally the mounting brackets/legs for the GX are in different locations and the LC does not have threaded holes where the GX brackets land on the LC frame. There are holes in the LC frame that are close but not exact.

I've asked both RCI and Victory 4x4 about one and RCI said its "in the works". Victory 4x4 said 2nd qtr. this year. I bought all victory 4x4 skids and they've been really good quality, in house powder coating, and shipping was free so I'm waiting for that one.

Greenlane also has a transfer case/fuel tank skid plate coming in the next month or so too.
This is great as I think they are Canada based! I reached out to them on Instagram a couple weeks ago but did not get a response.

Yeah they have been very busy as they are a smaller shop. I am awaiting an order from them at the moment but they do answer emails.

Looks like we've got a few companies with fuel tank skids out:

Anyone see any others yet?

RCI in Colorado is legit. I don’t know about the other guys.
I actually just placed an order for their fuel tank skid, a arm skid, rear lower link skid, front lower link skid, and rear differential skid. Was waiting for victory 4x4 to release theirs but have a Moab trip coming up in mid April and hoping I get these before then. Their lead times for skids are 3-5 weeks and I’m local so I can pick them up. They seem to be good quality so fingers crossed.

RCI and Victory 4x4 are both great company. Victory 4x4 always has free shipping
For “real” off-roader (more than fire roads), Skid plates are must because of “low”clearance of LC. I had “fully 2” lifted” Kings suspension with 35” tires, skid plates are still needed for protection.
Beside other skid plates, skid plates for Fuel tank and rear diff are also very important. Aluminum can save you weight, but steel is the best (between 2). If you got hit by rocks, aluminum skid plates can be deformed/damaged and have to be replaced

Did you order the transfer case skid? Not sure it’s necessary but…It also looks a bit tricky to install and I’m not sure it’s compatible with the first edition transmission skid. I’ll be ordering the fuel tank skid for sure.

I actually have the victory 4x4 engine, trans, and transfer skids. I liked the engine mounting better on the victory 4x4 vs the RCI skid; they are really good quality and shipped free. Only reason I didn't order from victory for the others is that they don't offer them yet and I have a few trips planned starting in April so wanted the coverage for my offroad trips. Not sure on install difficulty since I had my skids put on by my mechanic when getting my most recent oil change.
