Extra key fob, can I leave it in vehicle

I wound up with a 3rd key fob. Wondering if I can take the battery out or on standby (not sure how to do this) and leave in vehicle for "just in case happens".

Owner's manual, page 151: To disable keyless features, Press the UNLOCK button on the keyfob twice while also holding the LOCK button...the keyfob indicator will flash 4 times. In this state, the key cannot be used to unlock the vehicle using the door handles or start the vehicle (it will also prolong the overall battery life of the keyfob). To turn the key back on, just press any of the keyfob buttons.

You could take it one step further by getting a "faraday bag" or case to keep the key while storing in your vehicle, which will also ensure that the radio signal it emits cannot be captured or used.
