Display screen brightness

I drove my FE first time at night . The display on dash was way too bright . I had to stop and change setting auto to night . That made it much better . Then when I put on Apple car play screen of my phone bright again , I could figure how to darken screen on home page of phone . Phone setting to dark didn’t help . Also I have been hunting for dial that darkens the interior lights / dash screen speedo tach area .
I would love to know how and where .
The auto display is suppose to adjust brightness based on time of day and ambient lighting

Another little quirk. If you rotate the light dimmer wheel on the left switch panel all the way until it clicks, the the display will stay in daytime mode even when the outside is dark.

I had the same thing the first time I drove at night. It was blinding. Just rotate the dimmer switch (counter clockwise?) past the detent. Auto dimmer now works.
