Coucou from Switzerland

Those shocks/springs units look impressive!
If you ever get the chance to visit a true suspension specialist—not just a parts installer—take it. Some experts can do incredible things.

These shocks have dream-level features: they’re fully passive, yet offer variable damping that adapts to both piston speed and position. This setup nearly eliminates the need for sway bars and bump stops altogether.

Imagine being able to lift your vehicle by any amount—1, 2, 3, even 10 inches—while maintaining full articulation, minimizing body roll under braking or cornering, and still achieving high-speed damping that smooths out small bumps and corrugations without bottoming out when jumping. It’s wild—almost like total control over the sprung mass.

For 4x4s, they even build shocks with 65mm pistons (not body diameter!). Whether you’re looking for a simple shock-and-spring swap or a complete chassis shocks relocation and setup, they can make it happen—just describe your dream, and they’ll build it.

I’m sure there are specialists like this in the U.S. too. Pricing is around $5,000, similar to high-end Icon setups, but here it’s fully custom and locally made

I'm a accomplished fabricator and truly appreciate craftmanship.

Just came back from CH.. while out walking around in Brunnen, ran into my LC Swiss twin!

Would have loved to check out the rear seat/trunk area and curse my hybrid battery... I'm sure it was weird enough for me to peep thru the windows and take a pic that they were calling the Kantonspolizei as we were walking away!

The neighbors and owner are about as friendly as a rainstorm—urban life, especially in German-speaking Switzerland! Back in my French-speaking Switzerland and in the countryside, we stare danger in the eye… and invite it over for coffee.

Brunnen splits the difference. Small-ish village... but getting much bigger every year. Lot's of tourist in the summer. Pretty laid back overall.

The sad part is I doubt when we move over there we will be taking our LC over. I hesitate to bring a vehicle sold in the US over to a place where they don't sell that version/driveline (and I'd be doubtful on support). Not sure it would even be legal, frankly, but I haven't looked into it.

I’ve seen a few i-FORCE MAX trucks around — usually Tundras that someone heroically imported over the ocean. So maybe Toyota Switzerland may help.

But watch out for the mods, over here, everything needs to be certified, stamped, blessed, and CE-approved. Even a stupid Perspex wind deflector imported from China can send you straight to purgatory.

Also watch out for multiple import taxes — like VAT, weight-based taxes, or whatever else they come up with. Importers’ fees, required documents, translations… it can get messy. Sometimes the process is ridiculously easy, and sometimes a missing paper can turn your LC to a real off road car :)

Keep in mind that a pure dynosaure juice LC250 worth here at least 87'000CHF so 110'000USD, yes this is totaly insane...welcome in Switzerland

Having lived in Germany for a bit, I will take the Swiss MFK over the German TUV.

The MFK is at least reasonable the TUV is not.

Thanks all... very likely to sell my LC here and buy something else over there when the time comes just due to all the hurdles. I like my LC a lot, just not a unicorn vehicle that is irreplaceable to me.

One thing I see once in a blue moon over there is full on 'Bro-Dozer' style Ram or Dodge dually pick-ups with a huge lift and all the add-ons. It's made me do a double take more than once. These don't appear to be farm vehicles either.

Besides trying to fit on all the narrow roads, squeeze in parking in the crazy small lots, dealing with the MFK due to all the mods, I can only imagine you REALLY want to drive that over there??

Hello,
Deal’s locked in. Blue body, white roof, 5 seats, 18" wheels, first-edition, diesel. First registered August 2025, about 5,000 km on it, so technically “used.”

And yes, it’s the first second-hand car I’ve ever bought that’s over USD 120,000. No typo. Diesels aren’t cheap. Toyotas aren’t cheap. A Toyota diesel's in Europe? Definitely not cheap at all.

Got it! It’s a German First Edition trim from January 2025 with the diesel engine. I drove back from the dealer mostly on the highway about 300km (186 miles) and averaged 7,1L/km or 33,1 mpg. Cool for a 2,5tons vehicle, thank you Rudolf Diesel.

This is a true cruiser. I really appreciate the calm, almost “cognitive” driving character the vehicle encourages—cool, polite, and perfectly suited to enjoying the scenery along the way. Still on the learning curve with all driving support systems (not use to with my cowboy Dacia). The user manual it more than 750 pages, who read it?
