Had some thieves smash my window on Dec 29…took it to the local Toyota dealer right away…they kept my LC for a week, and today I find out that they can get the glass, but not the other necessary parts until mid-February. Recognizing supply chain issues, and the relative newness of our LCs, I was surprised (and disappointed in Toyota) that I could not get a more timely repair.

Sorry to hear! What other parts are needed? The only time I have had this happen I just needed new glass.

I too am curious what additional parts would be needed.

For those that asked, here are the parts…I have no way of knowing if the repair could be done without replacing these non-glass items. This is from World Toyota in Atlanta.
This said, the truly egregious thing in this quote was 2 hrs of labor quoted to clean up the glass - as much labor as the rest of the job. The glass was all over the interior, but certainly not a 2 hr shop vac effort. Since I have to wait over a month to get this fixed, I think I can take care of that myself.
Otherwise, you can see the parts are not terribly expensive, but having to wait over a month is really frustrating.

Looks to me like the only thing that should be replaced would be the Access cover and I assume it's the plastic moisture barrier that could be reused if it was removed carefully. The Belt molding and Glass run could probably be reused but at the dealers, not worth the effort to clean the glass out to prevent scratching the new glass.

Not defending the dealer but a couple thoughts. The labor is an estimate so they should only bill you for what was actually done on the glass cleanup. Having done it myself in the past, it can be more complicated than one might think and the bulk of the work is not the cabin but inside the door itself.

The window shatters and unfortunatley lots of small pieces of the safety glass fall into every nook and cranny of the door and then a bunch pools up at the bottom. If you don't get all of them out then there will be a permanent rattle for the rest of the usefull life of the vehicle. Sadly, the door is often poorly designed by some vendors and there aren't any drain holes big enough to clean out the glass. So you are limited to vacuuming from the top in an area where it is hard to get a lot of suction.

Perhaps someone in this forum has already taken apart the LC door and can comment on the drain hole design issue. Hopefully Toyota did it right. I wouldn't take it lightly and would put more emphasis on the dealer to do a thorough job rather than saving an hour or two of labor. Otherwise, you could end up with an extra percussion section in the car as you drive down the road. 🪇 🥁

All good points - thanks. I’ll clean up the interior regardless, but my primary care & concern has always been the timing…I shared my woes in the sole hope that others can have a “heads up” that parts support is currently challenged. Of course, cost is not meaningless, but a few hundred $ one way or the other isn’t life-changing (I am not using insurance). Anyway, was just hoping the info is helpful to someone…
