No hand wash in winter for me in Ontario .. car wash at best and maybe another coat of ceramic in spring .. after the meltdown

Loool exactly my concern but we’ve decided to bite the bullet on the Color - black on black - in winter I’ll be hitting the car wash regularly — many told me that the ceramic coating is not car wash friendly … any thoughts or previous experience and advice on ceramic coating?

IMO, Ceramic coatings do provide additional protection and must be reapplied/touched up periodically. For me the cost isn't worth the benefit. I have a black LC and it goes through the automatic car wash at least 2-3 times per week. I have a subscription for the "works" which includes the ceramic wax, tire shine and the water repellant (which I assume is for the glass) It looks almost as good as the day I bought it. It does have the micro swirls and that was something I was aware of before I made the decision for the subscription and something I'm ok with. For me it was about keeping the bugs, road salt and grime off the paint on a regular basis vs the occasional wash my other vehicles received. I had always hand washed my vehicles previously and always managed to find a reason not to........LOL. I have since added my 2020 Tacoma to my subscription and now if either one of them leave my driveway they go through the wash (it's located 1/2 mile from my house).

I guess what I'm saying, can't hurt to apply a coating, but the coating itself doesn't negate frequent washing to maintain the reflectiveness of the paint.

Thanks for the response - car wash it is ...and yes the same on this side with the winter subscription - it is a must to clear the salt - my 5th Gen 4R - went through the wash for 11 years (winters) now and still looks like new ... the LC is gonna be locked up in the garage and last i want is the salt and muddy chunks of slush there..
My TY dealer packages the ceramic coating with a company called first Canadian choice... will see how that goes !

Now installed, and with 275/70/18 not so much poke. I am pleased they are within the wheel well.

Well, I went all terrain rather than a pure winter tire. The formula has been working for me the last nine years.

So far so good. The vehicle feels more stable laterally with the increased track, and the extra rubber takes some of the edge off bumps. I really haven't done many km with the new tires, so hopefully this weekend I can give them a better trial.

Thank you very much for sharing the clear pics.. i'm expecting delivery in a few weeks and considering to replace the OEM 20s .. still hesitant if I keep 20s and change the rubber only for winter .. and a set of 18s for the summer (more driving and exploring).... still TBD ... let me know how they splash when you get the chance to test them in the wet..
