Banks Boost Tubes

I’m running the AFE hot and cold side pipes as well as their intake and boost box. Have a dyno apt on Friday the 20th, will update the forum
I am curious about the dyno in general. I think this will be the first LC250 dyno by an owner on this Forum.

Will you do stock vs AFE, or just your current setup?

I'll have my current setup of intake and both hot and cold boost tubes with the AFE boost box in stock, then "Race" mode which is the highest it goes...

Awesome. Will you test 87 vs. 93 octane by any chance? That might settle one of the biggest debates on this forum 😊.
 
Unfortunately no. Here in WA we have 87, 89, and 92, and I only run 92.
Yeah that makes sense. I think if you post stock hp/torque numbers higher than what is reported by Toyota (with a reasonable drivetrain loss calculation), we will have an idea about what may be going on.
 
Interesting that banks doesn’t show the torque/hp curve down low. I’d be willing to bet low end torque (the more effective place for torque on this platform) is less or at best remains unchanged.

Increased intake volume with stock tuning is going to take longer for the turbo to build boost. Larger exhaust on stock tune is going to slow down scavenging effect unless the muffler reduces restriction enough?

I think the best bang for the buck is intercooler, drop in filter and OTT tune. The tubes & exhaust don’t seem cost effective for what is advertised and will likely only shift the torque curves to higher RPM. Especially the tubes for what is essentially silicone couplers with OEM clips on one side and short pieces of aluminum (heat sinks).

Also not a fan of piggyback tuners, I have had four different ones on different platforms and not one of them has lasted more than a few years before having issues. ECU tunes are the way to go IMO currently going 16 years strong at over 170,000 miles from new on a boosted application without any drive train or tune issues.

Course I could be wrong the dyno results should tell all. Good luck!

I'm definitely a fan of tunes vs boxes as well, but with this being a brand new platform with potential kinks to be worked out here and there, I'm skeptical of loading a tune into the ECU and dealing with potential warranty coverage.

The AFE boost tubes are Alum. w/ silicone couplers, and although they state they provide a bit more power, I'm skeptical..........
 
I have decided to run mine stock, works fine and has plenty of useable power vs making changes just for the sake of making changes and wasting money.
However on the diesel power side i am budgeting for a new 2027 GMC 2500HD Duramax off road loaded version.
Annnnd, the upgrade tank is 56g, vs 34g, i am so sick of this piss ant soccer mom tank on the Cruiser.
I did the same to my current older Duramax and have never not once regretted it. 56x 17 = 900+ range not towing, yeow.

If I had the budget for a rig like to tow, trust me I wouldn't be towing with the LC, which is why I'm throwing some cash at the engine. Obviously the LC isn't designed with towing specifically in mind, and going over passes when the battery is depleted it will rely strictly on the engine, hence I'm trying to bolster the combustion power figures.

Experience dictates you should consider another vehicle to tow to the degree you are describing.
The Cruisers are very use focussed by design.
I would be very careful about trying to get more power, hp & torque, and i do understand the over the pass scenarios very well.
There area number of week links that are clear, doing what you are describing, not just under the hood.

If anyone can contact banks power to ask if they'll release air intake for the LC250, i'm still waiting for it, otherwise i'm pulling the trigger on aFe intake.

I think I would wait. I have a SXTH intake in an unopened box if your hell bent on throwing something on

What’s the hesitation on the SXTH? Other than some installation challenges (getting the rubber grommets to stay connected to the new CAI-total pain in the ass) it is great. Good build quality and lots of new airflow.
 
The DC motor is in the drive line, always on and faster than anything else will be able To respond.
The before and after dyno results would be a great thing to see if done correctly and accurate.
Its possible there could be a perception of quicker or more something, doubtful at best.
As soon as the tubes are legal in Ca i will try a set just cuz, expecting nothing discernable.
