Apple CarPlay is Garbage- Did we get the Beta version?

Each time (to be fair, maybe it's 90% of the time) i start my LC (2024 FE) i have to manually connect my phone. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Welcome to the asylum beachwagon.

I had the same experience with Miss Daisy initially.. Only worse. I think that it has been mentioned (in this thread IIRC) that Toyota can and does update the infotainment system ‘over the air’, via the Toyota app. My Toyota app has asked me countless times, if it is okay to ‘speak’ to Miss Daisy. I always agree. Things have gotten better over time, especially compared to Apple Car Play spontaneously kicking me out of the infotainment system multiple times, especially while driving. I also think that the recent Apple Car Play update by Apple has helped the Car Play App.

BUT…

Occasionally, I still have to manually connect the phone, only upon startup. At least it doesn’t disconnect me 20 eleven times while driving down the highway like it did 6 months ago.

I've started not turning or pushing any buttons until the infotainment screen finishes booting and haven't noticed any hiccups for awhile now.

I happened to sit next to a Google employee on my flight home from SFO.

I asked him how Android Auto works and why it is buggy on my Toyota Land Cruiser but rock solid on my BMW.

He explained that both Android Auto and Apple Car Play are essentially just mirroring the phone via an app in the infotainment system.

He said both Google and Apple cannot account for all manufacturers systems and changes that the manufacturers make over time.

Sometimes updates need to be made by Apple or Google and sometimes updates need to be made by the manufacturers.

He said that he has a Lexus with the Toyota Infortainment 21 system (which he said is the latest iteration of the Toyota in-car software) and also the software in our LCs.

He said with the newness of the software, while he does not work in that group, it is his understanding that Android Auto software is just catching up to the latest manufacturers software including Toyota where as BMW's software is a few years old at this point and Android Auto has caught up to it and is more reliable now than it was before.
