Ha ha! Doesn’t everyone do that with a new vehicle for the first couple of weeks?
For sure I do that!! And it is not just when the vehicle is new, it is always.

I just parked at the far corner on the top floor of a parking garage. 
I park all my vehicles like that. Then some (insert adjective here) parks right next to me. Seriously?!
Yes! Every trip out I'm trying to figure out how far away I can park without the passengers giving me the stink eye.I park that way. On all my vehicles. Regardless of age
My luck is I'll park in the wastelands and for some reasons it attracts everyone else. LOL
I won't usually go out of my way to park WAY out of the way (where I live, it'd be rare to even see a parking lot with that much space!), but I do tend to prefer the spots further away....less likely to get parked next to, get a few extra steps in and more fresh air, and usually easier to pull into and out of then the close spots.
The advantages are twofold:
1) Avoid door dings
2) More time to gawk at your 250 as you walk through the parking lot

Old, new it doesn’t matter to me I regularly park far from people. It’s just my nature to avoid people that I don’t trust.
You have to be somewhat discreet in your gawking as you walk away.
