Another Bad Ass Land Cruiser Build

Here is a little bit more information from their website.
Interesting Toyota wants to bring the Modellista brand into the US for both Toyota and Lexus:

Uuuff, with all due respect, not my kind of look at all, like Tron met Mad Max in a Zombie apocalypse movie or something.... I'd have to be paid a lot of money to even be seen close to that aberration to good taste. But to each their own...
To be honest most of the side mount gears J saw on their offroad vehicle are kinda ugly. I really like the defender style side mount boxes. It looks way more elegant than how most people did. and why there haven’t had people trying to embedded these LED light stripe onto their roof rack is beyond me. It looked really nice

The point of show car builds is to display new concepts, not what's most popular or practical. Check out these builds from the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon:

None of those ^ are as obscene as the one posted at the top. Just my opinion of course, but the original one posted looked like it spent a weekend at Autozone

Bad ass, or Bad Taste, you decide,,,

So, this looks like a real poser truck to me. I am a function guy and hate poser stuff, so I have a bias here. This is an honest question. What do people put in those little boxes over the rear windows? Frisbees? Some of my recovery gear is heavy as are my tools. I wouldn’t put that stuff in there. Maybe I should start a thread showing the contents of these boxes. I assume cheese cutting boards and cat toys, but what do I know?

On December 4th, 2024 you posted:
"I just find out that I can drive the car while manually fold the side mirror. Have anybody tried to drive in this way? I wonder if the ADAS feature can still function correctly or how much gas efficiency can I boost while while on highway. "
And now you like "defender style side mount boxes". Ever heard about aerodynamic drag?
Make up your mind.

Well it sounds like you want to link two completely different posts and subjects together, not sure what is your intention. But here is my response:

First, unless you are brain damaged, most normal minded people can tell these two discussions are orthogonal. They are two different part on the vehicles. Just because I want one part to be more aerodynamic, doesn’t meant I can’t compromise another in exchange of disproportionally added functionality. Making connection for these two things makes completely no sense at all.

Second, have you done any aero-dynamics simulation? What led you to a conclusion that these side mounted boxes will create significant drag, comparing to completely exposing shovels and traction pads out at the side? I saw you are making some baseless assumption here that no sane people can justify.

Third, since you are challenging me personally for your conflicting reasoning, I would want to challenge you back how you determine to balance use cases versus efficiency? With your ridiculous logic can I assume that since you own a LC your position is trashing your car’s efficiency wherever you can? Otherwise why are you buying such an inefficient car? Did you made your mind yet?

Stop attacking me with the debate you can’t defend yourself. I find all of your arguments are utterly weak at its best.

ya so there, its all for fun and entertainment value, some pimping and influencing going on not really not sure about some of the agendas in here. That will become more apparent over time.
And maybe that just it a time wasting exercise, like right now, dinner pending,,,,

This started from another thread with another equally weak argument from him. He seems to always has some very weird logic to justified his attack.

But all jokes aside, I do not see this build is more ridiculous than some of the offroad build you see from social media. Particularly if you pay attention to the keeps guys there are nothing short of ridicule. Even put a bull bar on this light duty vehicle is way over kill (IMO of course), and I can’t see placing an oversized tire in the aftermarket rear bumper is less dramatic than a simple ladder.

Like what I said earlier, these body fenders are not my style, and I certainly don’t like these cables despite its protective purposes. but I do appreciate the side boxes for recovery and other gears, and the way they light up the roof rack is definitely way subtle and classier than these who install ugly and blinding LED light on the roof rack with all the exposing wires. This type of stuff is very subjective. You don’t have to agree. But if anyone want to question at least be something better than the “aerodynamics” argument. The aerodynamics of this design is way better than most of the build from what I can see.
