I was wondering where a good spot is on the front of the car to gauge when it's getting too deep. I've read 700mm for the hybrid version due to the battery. I must be pretty close to that. The "view" camera went underwater, so that was interesting to watch. I ended up making a video the second time I went through just cause it was pretty fun and I figured if there was damage done it was already done. There was an easy out to the left, but that puddle just looked too tempting.

I've done various crossings in 75, 80 and 105 series landcruisers. The 105 I had water above the hood - turbo diesel with snorkel. I also made a tarp skirt for that one to reduce water into engine bay.

I feel like that photo must be close to the limit - the photo shows clearly the water height, but also I was plowing a bit of water..

I had a question also about diff breather relocation - how high up is the factory diff breather? Hopefully nothing too dramatic happened. I'm 6000+ km from home again. Last time I was this far it broke down and I got a free tow truck ride - thanks Toyota.

700 mm is about 27.5". In the photo you can see that 27" is just below the bottom of the middle part of the middle bumper. Or, just above the lower grill. The camera is about 24" off the ground. In my head, I'm thinking if you submerge the camera, you know you could be headed for trouble!

Sounds like you are playing pinball in that Land Cruiser😂. All these horns and beep sounds. its unbelievable.

I’ve made a post concerning this exact question. I have also made a couple crossings in roughly very similar depths and had no issues. There’s also a YouTube video of a guy who killed his truck by going through a crossing (large puddle) allegedly too fast and water was pushed up into some vague place and from what I remember it was never truly proven where or how it killed the truck. That being said, I have also hit many puddles pretty close to what I saw in the video (I’m in Houston and there’s many roads here where it’s unavoidable during a good storm) and I’ve never had an issue with that either, aside from my rear parking sensors randomly turn off. So maybe that was just a freak thing? I rerouted my diff breather to up under the hood, as high as I could get it, but from convos in that other post I made and official info from Toyota, water up to the bottom of the rear bumper is “safe” (on stock suspension). General question was whether water could find an ingress into the hybrid battery tray from underneath, or if water under the hood could somehow damage some component in the system there. I know somebody on here also said that his fuel line disconnected after a crossing? I’m not sure on any of these but it seems to be, we don’t know until it happens to someone. My opinion is the guy who killed his truck by going too fast was just a freak occurrence, the possibility of water ingress into the battery tray would be mitigated obviously by not attempting a long crossing, and not attempting crossings much deeper than what you’ve already tried!
