I have recently placed an order for a LC premium and plan on switching out the 20" wheels with 18" as many of you have done.
There must be a whack of 'new' 20" LC wheels for sale on various platforms.
I have two 'wheel' related questions ...
1) What is the going price of a set of four 20" LC wheels & tires take-offs?
Am i correct in saying that they would also fit Tundras and Sequias? Are they easy to sell?
2) Do most of you buy a 5th 18" wheel & tire for the spare ... or leave the original spare ... or buy an 18" steel wheel and tire?
Thanks in advance for any and all responces ... much appreciated!

I can't speak for all, but when I stepped down to 18" on our Premium I got five matching wheels and tires. I sourced Tacoma TRD wheels and went one size larger on the tires. I did so with rotating the spare into the mix in mind.

As for selling the 20's, they don't command a great price. They should bolt up to Land Cruisers, current generation 4Runners, Tacomas, Tundras and Sequoias, but the negative offset used on the LC250 means they'll be pretty tucked in if installed on those vehicles.

Some dealers will give you a credit for the original rolling stock (modest compared to what the parts counter would charge, because they'll want to make a buck or a thousand) and allow you to take delivery with your preferred wheel and tire combo installed. That might be something to consider depending on what you'll want to run in place of the 20's.

Hi Basicxj,
So you went with 285/70/18 including for the spare?
I figured the demand for 20" take-offs would be weak ... as you have confirmed.
When the time comes i will ask the dealer if they have any interest in giving me a credit towards the 18" TRD wheels that i am wanting.
Thanks for the info!
ps - Whereabouts in Canada are you?

One city east of you.

I went with 275/70/18 for all five. The dealer was able to quote me a decent price for the Toyo all terrains (the EV version in Standard Load), discount the one wheel and five TPMS. I scored four of the wheels new in box from Marketplace from someone who decided to go a different way before taking delivery. I like the offset of the Tacoma TRD wheels compared to the original equipment- they bring the tires out to the edge of the wheel wells without flinging rocks/mud/salt down the sides of the vehicle.

I have since installed some Toyota Heritage caps in bronze in place of the original centre caps.

Have a chat with the parts counter and see what they can put together (with the full knowledge you are buying your Land Cruiser there) and have them sharpen their pencils. Bring your sales person into the loop and ask about what they would credit you. People seem to be asking $600-$1100 for the 20's with and without tires and TPMS locally on Marketplace, and what they sell for is going to be in that ballpark. The credit a dealer offers is going to be on the low side, so it is really a matter of whether you'll want to list them and sit on them until they sell.

I kept mine, will probably run out the OEM Yokohama tires in the fairer months and then maybe throw some dedicated winter tires on those wheels for the worst of what Mother Nature offers. Pro tip: don't store your original wheels, tires, TPMS sensors near to where you park so you don't have the vehicle getting the TPMS confused.

Good advice given already. Couple of notes-
- 20” ride & handle great
-275/60R20 @ 33” look good, give great ride in SL load rating, have ample sidewall unless your serious off roading - now you’re only buying tires.
- See what your dealer will give you credit on your take-offs
-if you need 18” shop dealer parts sites & often you can find 4 TRD black 18” wheels for around $850 delivered to your door in US
- 20” sets aren’t real popular except w/4Runner, Tacoma & Land Cruiser. Some owners buy singles for full-size spare option.
-If you can get $500-$1000 for wheel & tire set your doing good.
