The owners manual says this.

■To prevent damaging the vehicle
The exclusive jump starting terminal is to be used when charging the 12-volt battery from another vehicle in an emergency. It cannot be used to jump start another vehicle.

Fine. How much power and from where can one power things that would normally connect to battery terminals? I mean like tire inflators.

you can use the normal 12v terminals in the rear of the vehicle for jump starting another vehicle or tire inflators or whatever 12v power you need. Just connect them directly to the battery, like you would if it was under the hood.

Thanks. Not disagreeing with you, but Can a Hybrid Jump-Start Another Car? Manufacturers Say No and Can A Toyota Hybrid Jump Start Another Car Safely Explained - ToyotaAutoDealer say that manufactures including Toyota say not to use the hybrid vehicle to jump start another car because the Traction battery/MG system electronics that recharge the 12v battery in the hybrid, and the small 12v battery itself, cannot provide enough current/power to jump start another car (safely). They kind of give cautionary advice. "Maybe" "You might, but...."

I think one could look at the current capacity of the 12v battery to determine limits on what could be powered from it.

IMHO, jump boxes are a safer way to provide or receive a jump start than using the vehicle battery- I found out the hard way many years ago helping out a co-worker in the parking lot after work.

The vehicle I was driving then had a hidden 12V battery under a plate behind the front seats, with the battery recessed below the compartment. I carefully hooked up my terminals to the jumper cables, hooked up the terminals to his vehicle- positive to battery positive and negative to a bare metal ground point. I started mine, and he started his- before I could jump out and remove the terminals, he disconnected them and arc'ed the terminals together damaging the diodes in my alternator in the process. $200 cost for my good deed for a re-manufactured alternator. Today's vehicles have much more in the way of sensitive electronics, and a similar move could cost much more.

As @basicxj said, modern cars don't like to be used to jump start other cars. The sudden high current draw and voltage drop can wreck havoc with the computers and charging system. You don't want to deal with thousands of dollars in repairs for being a good Samaritan.
Portable jump boxes are the modern way to go. They are not expensive and much safer for both cars.

I am listening buddy. Ordered a NOCO right away.

Thanks for sharing valuable lessons with all of us.

Thanks. I carry a jump box in my LC. Here's anther thread about jumping: Boosting another vehicle

I was more specifically curious about powering 12v items that use the battery terminal clamps.
I have not looked at the physical battery in the LC yet.
