2025 Land Cruiser
2025 LC 1958 left us stranded last night. Leaving traffic light and didn’t want to shift out of second, then hybrid malfunction light along with check engine, system malfunction, drive control lights. Contacted Toyota roadside assistance, 2 1/2 hours later while waiting I turn ignition back on and it had cleared itself. I am very uncomfortable with what I am finding on here about same issues others are having. I have owned 8 different Toyota vehicles in my life and moved away from them when I bought 2018 Tacoma TRD 6spd that had troubles new and dealer didn’t help, so I got away from Toyota. Did I make a mistake coming back?
What have some found as resolutions to this hybrid system malfunction?
LC has 451 miles, I’ve owned it 3 days.

It could be a simple faulty part or a bad 12V battery. I wouldn’t put the vehicle down just yet. The majority of us haven’t had any issues and enjoy our Land Cruisers. I believe you will to once the issue is resolved.
Some service centers are great and others are plain crap. There’s dealers that are willing to help.

Day 3? Wow. Sorry. I understand your frustration but hope it gets resolved quickly.

I’m close to 16k with mine and, so far, it’s been trouble free. Hope that w good experience, you can regain your confidence in the brand / model soon.

Ditto, it's a little early to throw in the towel. These are great trucks and once you get it broken in your going to love it.

This happened to Miss Daisy sometime in the first couple of weeks of ownership, but the warning simply went away, without any input from me. It was like Miss Daisy farted… and then behaved. It has never done it again.

I completely disagree with most of the responses here and wholeheartedly agree with op - my LC has
minor issues but has never put me in an unsafe situation like his.

isn't the LC's slogan - If you want to go into the wild, any truck can take you. If you want to get back, take a Land Cruiser?

I wouldn't sell it so some other poor soul can get stranded with their family, I'd take it up with the dealership and have them make it right!

I'll be interested to see what the deal finds, what code it threw.

I bought a 4th Gen4R. About a week in I'm driving down the road and the thing goes nuts, goes into limp mode. Get home, turn the vehicle off and planned to go to the dealership the next day. Worked fine after that, never an issue in 250k, never took it to the dealer the next day. I hope this just turns out to be a one time glitch for you.

Considering that our LC has very few km on it so far, I'm not impressed. Issues include the rising oil level; the dealer promised to contact Toyota about this more than four months ago but no reply yet. And one day, pretty much every warning light and system failure warning lit up. That happened around Christmas time; maybe the LC wanted to get in on the seasonal light shows. And then there's the very poor fuel economy. And, in my opinion, Toyota should have put a non-hybrid V6 into the LC.

The important thing, however, is that my wife wanted it and likes the way it looks.

I am with you, Clarkcruiser. 4200 miles in and I have had terrible reverse brake squeal the whole time. I've gone back and forth with the 1-800 people at Toyota. I've had it into the dealer. I regret it so badly. I wish that I had gone with an Ineos Grenadier.

I second this. It could be a manufacturer defect but I’m sure the dealer will resolve it - especially if you haven’t even had the car for a week. I just passed 2k miles on mine and tbh I’m loving it. It’s learning my driving and the fuel economy has improved which is nice. Don’t give up yet man it sucks dealing with bs but it’s nothing that can’t be resolved. 🤙🏽🍻

If you want reliable, I’m not sure choosing a British-European monstrosity would accomplish your goal. Unfortunately, reliability is dropping across the board however Toyota will stand by their product more than any other brand (see tundra recalls, future LC recalls 😂, etc).
