The plastic cover over the speedo display in my taco scratched with any kind of cleaning. No soft cloth was soft enough to prevent scratching. Want to avoid that on this 250, so looking for recommendations. TIA

Bilt Hamber Touch-Less & The Rag Company Edgeless Pearl seems to work just fine for me. Zero micro scratching of the cluster surface.
I would not use Touch-Less in the interior, it's not designed for that. It's also high pH so you might want to neutralize it with something if you've already used it there.

As others have suggested, as long as you're wiping with a clean (or new), quality microfiber you should be good. If you've used the microfiber for other types of cleaning, you run the risk of scratching if the microfiber picked up debris. To be super safe, if you're worried about scratches, you could dedicate a microfiber to cleaning only the gauge cluster (or gauge cluster, infotainment screen, and other sensitive plastics). Something inexpensive like the yellow Kirkland microfibers they sell at Costco will likely work fine for you - but (again, to be extra safe) you might want to fold in the stitched edges of those which aren't always as soft as the microfiber itself. There are also many higher quality microfiber options available (with soft or un-stitched edges - like the Edgeless Pearl mentioned) – The Rag Company and Autofiber are two well known and respected brands.

If you need a chemical - there are many different chemicals you could use, but if you don't have something already, look at Optimum No Rinse Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine Version 6 Rinseless Car Wash (ONR) It's cost effective and a jack of all trades that you can use to clean literally your entire vehicle, inside and out. It's also very safe to use (for you and your vehicle), not super aggressive, and neutral pH (which means you don't have to worry about neutralizing it). For the gauge cluster you'd want to mix up the lowest strength (1:256), put it in a spray bottle, use a couple sprays into the microfiber, wipe the cluster, and then change to a dry part of the microfiber and wipe the cluster dry.

IMO, Toyota's clear plastic seems to scratch extremely easy (at least on my other Toyota's) and I purchased a "tempered glass" overlay kit (yet to be installed) for the dash cluster and infotainment screen and have refrained from wiping the OEM plastic with anything until I get around to installing the kit.

i breathed on my gauge cluster and it has scratches... i should get an overlay, just haven't yet

If there are already scratches, it might be possible to use something like Meguiar's PlastX. I've seen good things about it getting scratches out of other automotive (shiny/glossy) plastic bits (interior and exterior).

But a physical barrier (screen protector/tempered glass/PPF) is always going to be the ultimate solution for scratch prevention.

you know, i thought @StickerFab had a screen protector for the instrument cluster, but not seeing it on their site? only the infotainment one. is there a Matte one for the gauges?
