What’s the source on your numbers of transmission failures? Does that data indicate the failure rate or just a count of failures?
When you go to a hospital, does it look like everyone is getting sick?

There's a guy in a local Facebook group who always claims he's spoken with local Toyota techs, even though he doesn't have a new one, and claims they're having lots of problems. You would definitely know from THIS FORUM if there were widespread issues.
Precisely. There are plenty of non owners with plenty of time on their hands who own fictional LC250 with likewise fictitious issues. Some are blatantly obvious describing issues that are simply non existent with the platform. You will see plenty of this nonsense on the GX550 social media platforms as well.
Think there has been at least one guy on this forum who had a transmission issue. Another guy who said he was getting his engine replaced. Otherwise there have been a lot of people with brake squeal and one guy who I think had a hose come lose or something. Otherwise it’s been pretty positive.
100% of all 250-series Land Cruisers I have personally owned (n=1) have had a total transmission failure in the first year.
I have no real valuable info to share and it’s truly hearsay, but the service guy at my dealership suggested they have seen and/or heard of this happening enough to be “a thing”. I get the feeling that it is more than a “cars will be cars” thing but not quite at TSB or recall level.

Precisely! We know brake squeal is a thing. If transmissions were a problem, it would be common knowledge here.
There is a thread dedicated to a user that had to have a full transmission replacement, and in that there are a few others that have had similar or the same issue...so it is something to be concerned about.
I do agree, however, that if it were a larger, more widespread issue, there would be a LOT more threads related to it (e.g. the noisy brakes)

I have never really put much stock in the " I know a guy who", "I read on the other forum that", "Face book group states" and "I just spoke with Toyota direct and they said".....................
I've tried to prod him for actual info just to see what he says. Nothing of substance. I think he's just bashing for internet points.
Just about to hit 20k miles... mine is just trucking along...
