What do you guys think about this? I have had the LC for 8 months and it has close to 11K miles.
Do you think Toyota will cover this under warranty?

Get one of those turtlewax rust removers might just be superficial on the paint that you can wipe off. I think they call it rail dust. If the rust remover removes the rust and there is depth in the paint, such as being able to see the primer, then I would take it to Toyota.

Looks like there is no clearcoat in that area.

Can’t be sure but due to the straight line and shading variation shown in the pics looks like it was masked off during clearcoat application, there is also an area where there is either dirt or what looks like a thin clearcoat peeling up towards the back?

I’d check the bottom rubber door seal to see if any metal particles are trapped or embedded in it?

Is it rust or stained? Might try some glazing compound (used for fiberglass) and see if it's easily removed.

^^ agreed

You can find iron remover spray in better stocked detailing aisles and online. If it is iron particles on top of the paint that have bloomed into rust, a clay bar with detailing spray should pluck them off without scratching.

I keep a bottle of Meguiar's compound around for manually polishing door jambs and other minor blemishes, and something like that would be a good follow up to seeing if the spots can be removed. If the rust you see is coming up through the paint from underneath, that is an entirely different matter. Try the simple things first.
