2025 TLC 1958
Hope to help here on my first post! Just purchased my 2025 1958 and I wanted to add a roof rack, lowest profile possible. One of the many reasons I bought the 1958 was I did not want the bulky roof rails and then have to add the cross bars for even more bulk. Yakima and Thule do not yet offer a specific option for a "naked" roof.
The six mounting locations for the "Land Cruiser" trim rails are on the 1958. I made an adapter plate for the Yakima Landing Pads LP1 that then allows attachment of towers and bars (SkyLine Towers and 50" Jet Stream Bars). The aluminum plate stock is .125 x 1.5 cut to 4.5" (all materials from Home Depot). I was initially thinking .250 thick and was going to double up the .125 but made and tested the .125 and it was/is Very solid, they are sprayed with rustolium flat black (would have used satin but did not have any on hand). The rest should be self explanatory, As they a picture is worth..... Happy to answer any questions.
