I retired from the Army a few years ago and settled in the Reno-Tahoe area, surrounded by the Sierra backcountry and plenty of desert to get lost in. Just got a 2025 LC250 (my first Land Cruiser). When my kids were young, we spent a lot of time backpacking, and honestly, I used to turn my nose up at “car camping.” That’s changed. My wife and I have been adventuring for years in our Sprinter van, which we’ve set up for year-round off-road travel. The more time I’ve spent exploring in the van, the more drawn I’ve become to the overland mindset—and the Land Cruiser fits right into that evolution. When it came time to replace my daily driver, the LC250 just made sense. I love the heritage and the look, and it felt more like me than the 4Runner. I’m not (yet) in it for rock crawling or technical trails for their own sake. I just want to reach wild, beautiful places, and get back out again. I’m not a car guy, so I expect to be lurking a lot, trying to make sense of tires, suspensions, lockers, and the rest. YouTube’s helped a ton, but forums like this are invaluable. Looking forward to learning from you all!
