Rear heated seat button install location

Has anyone tried installing rear heated seat buttons directly in the HVAC panel? I’m noticing that this is the typical placement for the buttons in Non US vehicles. I wonder if that’s a blank space behind them? I’m thinking about putting a 5/8 inch drill through there to install the seat heater buttons. Thoughts?
