Hi all,

I’ve got a bit of a wild project on my hands. I’m working with a large company to supply them a fully custom Land Cruiser build. Full transformation: custom bin, wide body kit, the works. I haven’t even received the vehicle yet, but I’m deep into the 3D mockups already.

The client really wants to move away from the stock LC79 look, especially up front. I’m redesigning the front fenders, grille, front plate, and bumper. Everything will be changed completely. One thing they’re really pushing for is a more modern, horizontal DRL-style headlight setup.

I’ve gone through a bunch of Chinese headlight options, but to be honest, most of them look a bit questionable. I’m now considering using the newer square-style headlights from the 2025 Land Cruiser or Prado. I think they could fit the aesthetic really well, but I have no idea what I’m getting into in terms of wiring and functionality.

Now, I’m not a Land Cruiser expert by any means. I usually work on classic cars. From what I understand, the LC79 doesn’t use CAN Bus, which should simplify things. But I’m still unsure how to get modern headlights working properly , mainly DRLs and any kind of motorized adjustment or startup animation.

Has anyone done something similar or have any tips? I’ve seen CAN Bus kits around but this is all pretty new territory for me. Any suggestions or insight would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

The LC70 sold in Middle East version comes with a unique Jagged Frame Round Headlamps with Bi- LED Projectors. A bit unique but looks amazing when lit.
