I hope your wife and kids had a great time!
Thanks. We always go out together as family time when kids get break time from school.
To balance and satisfy wife and kids, I do have Starlink with me so they are not cut off from civilization and reward with a night in good hotel (stayed in Hyatt Regency Monterey this trip) ๐Ÿ˜œ

Dude! What a trip and those are some insane shots. Thanks for sharing!

Those are nice digs!

Few more photos just added into same thread

What an amazing spot to camp! Is that a dispersed camping area or something you have to reserve? Very cool. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

Dispersed camping in wilderness : remote, primitive

Beautiful photos - you have a great eye for composition. Photo 4 of your truck climbing through those s curves is chefโ€™s kiss!

Did a weekending trip with my family this weekend as well. That Starlink comes in clutch when youโ€™re well outside of cell range and group decides itโ€™s time for internet! Amazing how far tech has come in such a short time.

Thanks much, bro !
Looking forward to your family trip report

Yeah, Starlink is game changer that we have internet / communication (especially, in emergency/ critical) everywhere we go either deep in the woods or far out in deserts alone. Many years before Starlink I always carry with me the Garmin InReach Mini. But now Starlink is the key

Still carry my InReach Mini as well, especially when leaving the vehicle behind while hiking.

Nice pics. That's a dream overland trip for me. I've only driven Big Sur in a convertible. Great rig too. How did you attach your rotopax? I have Sea Suckers and they worked well. Are those exterior molle panels?

Rotopax and Rocovery Box attached to window molle panels which bolted to roof rack and 2 Sea Sucker Suction cups to window glass

Per advertisement, the Sea suckers suction cups for rotopax can hold up well, but my conservative mind (200% safe) doesnโ€™t โ€œfeelโ€ security with it ;) I donโ€™t want anything can drop out on rocky trails and highway high speed / strong winds to injury other people.
On top of it, expensive and critical spare fuel+rotopax+sea sucker mount can be stolen easily if I park my truck in no where trailheads for few hours of hiking or overnight park in hotel parking lot
.
I am probably too conservative guy and can be wrong

Nice location pic and images....
How do you like the star link services ?

Where did you find the molle panels that mount to the Toyota roof rack? I looked all over the place and didn't find any that attached to anything other than their own brand specific roof rack. I had the same reservation about the sea suckers. I created a fail-safe with cables that attached them to the roof rack in addition to the suction onto the windows. That set up allows me to remove the sea suckers when I'm not using the rotopax. It survived the trip from OH to CO like a champ.

Helpful thread: Side panels mounted on factory roof rack
