I back my car out of my driveway in the morning. The temp outside is 55-65 ... I then shift to drive and go up a slight incline and when the vehicle shifts from first to second, there is a rough shift .. After that first rough shift the rest of the day the shifts are very smooth....

Do other people have this problem?

Should I take it in and see if they can fix it or should I live with it?

Will this go away as I break in the vehicle - I am at 500 miles so far.

I am not super nervous.. I bought the extended warranty for 10 years 100K miles for 3K so I have a long time to get this ""fixed" if it is a problem.

I have noticed the same. Once the engine is warm and has been driven for a minute or two the shifting seems normal. I’m at 6500 miles and it hasn’t changed so it’s not a break in thing.
What are you going to do about it? I think I am going to ignore it ... if something is wrong the transmission and time will tell and then I can address.

I have the same behavior and situation. I've trained myself to limit how much throttle I give it prior to that first shift. Just lift a bit and let it shift, and it will do so smoothly.

I assumed this was just dumbass automatic transmissions being dumb.

I noticed this the second it gets cold (under 55 degrees). Not an issue during Spring/Summer/Early Fall, but late Fall and Winter.

If you have a heated garage, this probably isn't something you've noticed, only if you leave your LC out in the elements overnight.

The simple solution I came up with a few months back is simply that it needs to be started for a few minutes ahead of time, the colder it is, the longer you need to wait. For LC Premium owners, using the Digital Remote Key (via the App) is the easiest solution. 1958 can do the fob button press for remote start. I'll start it before I get my shoes/coat on... waiting on everyone else to get ready :ROFLMAO: & you're good to go. Maybe 5 minutes of warming time before it shifts/acts normally if its 45 degrees out.

I think it’s already a bit too late in the year for me to test for that (houston).
I do want to chime in though for the last comment, I have a 1958 and it looks like I can remote start it from the app.

I’m going to keep an eye on it and see if it gets any worse or if it’s just a thing. I do intentionally now let it warm up before driving it. So hopefully that helps. I’m not worried about it currently

What I've been doing and similar result. Not an issue when it is warmer out.

Same, particularly on cold mornings. I just take it easy starting out. 2025 LC LC.

I let my vehicle warm up today for 5 minutes ... and no rough shift .. I am not sure what running the engine for 5 minutes would do with a smoother shift .. I am going to bring this up first visit .. something is not right with the design .. but then this is not a big issue either .

The problem is most likely the transmission fluid being cold. The short warm up most likely gets the fluid warm enough to make rough shift disappear.

So it was 74 today when I got in my LC .. backed it up and started in Drive .. First shift as usual from first to second was very rough.. the rest during the day were fine .. I am at around 900 Miles now..

People told me they thought it was cause the fluid was cold for the first shift ..

I am getting ready to take it in the shop and have them look at it .. before I do it, anyone else have some wisdom on this problem and think I should do something.

Overall though I have a 10 year 100K warranty so they should fix it eventually, so not worried..

Mine recently did this at about 9,000 miles. I usually get on it a bit pulling out of my driveway because it is a blind hill. I was pulling out early in the morning on the weekend so few cars on the road and pulled out very slowly and it slammed from first to second and then pretty hard from second to third and rough third to fourth. It was smooth after that. I’m hoping it was a one off. I’ve not driven automatics in a long time, and when I get in a hurry I forget that automatics can’t be shifted quickly from reverse to drive and vice versa, and have had it slam into gear that way a handful of times too. Hoping all good as the transmission has been really smooth otherwise.

1958 uses the remote app too

I live on a hill too .. so this morning I let the vehicle run for 1 minutes (it was 64 degrees outside ) and then when I left, I went the downhill way .. smooth shift .. more experiments to do. I think the vehicle learns how it is used and programmed to be most efficient .. I have it in ECO mode and think it is a combination of that, the vehicle being cold and driving up hill as I drive up the road ..
