No Footwell Lighting? No problem. Plug and Play add-on.

Our Land Cruiser non-premium package didn't have footwell lighting which was a bit surprising. 1958 doesn't either which is a little less surprising. I checked the factory plug I found that was taped up and not in use on the passenger side. Couldn't get a voltage reading from it. So started asking around and searching for kits. Pretty happy with the outcome.

If you have premium with the white lights, couldn’t you just disconnect those and add these since the wiring is already there? Or would that not work? Could you post a photo of what the light and wiring look like before install?

Pretty sure the connectors are not the same size as these. I'm not at the office right now but you can compare the glove box led connector to the footwell led connector...

Hey, I am looking to install footwell lighting. Noticed I have an unused wiring harness under the front glove box. Is this a factory footwell light connection or did you order an aftermarket footwell kit. If so which one and how did you power it up.

I just used the two unused connectors in both footwell panels. They're connected to the Dome light and operate in the same way as the dome light. I used a couple of 12 Volt LED panel lights. Just make sure you don't apply too much load to the circuit. The LEDs I used drew 50mA.

I installed this set from Amazon, then bought the OEM lights and it turned out 100% perfect. Also, I was able to do this by just drop the two interior panels that clip in and popping out the side panel and splitting off the Auto highbeams with a Y connector. I then ran the wire through the center console area with a hanger and did not need to pop off the paddled knee rests. The LED that came with the kit were too bright.
