Picked it up today.
Off to lunch. Then home to the Oasis.
First impressions:
I love everything about this vehicle so far in the break in mode. Easy does it.
No pillar clanking.
No engine knocking or clinking, loose parts and sloppy pistons.
Sewing machine perfect.
Lovvve the breaks.
Really really like the color at all times of the day and night.
No break squealing front or reverse.
Nothing i can't explain and that feels or sounds bad, scary, OMFG what did i do, oh dear the goblins are here and no ammo feeling.
Really like the way it drives and the solid yet very sporty and accurate feeling on the road. This is critical for me and my driving style and intentions as it gets broken in.
Mileage sucked but that to be expected. No issues here.
There is an upcoming Anti SMM mods list to influence this thing away from the current soccer mom mode.
My style is off the delivery truck, not soiled by any others prior to my inspection. 3 miles on it, a great buying experience in all ways.
MSRP no adders just cuz.
Very ethical and decent family owned dealership.
It was worth the waiting list wait to get exactly the right vehicle.
Thx

Todays updates.
Fixed the diaper soccer mom mess at the hitch. good call from another.
The thing tracks flat and feels very planted. Toyota has done an excellent job on the suspension tires etc i have the factory Yokomama tires, lots to improve there as time passes. All the little stickers here and there are gone. Plenty of bass and a very good factory audio system. Not sure what people think it needs for audio, its a vehicle. One needs to be careful about the secret hidden plastic speaker covers that are hard to see and get missed. Found 4.
Phone paring and functions are top rate without getting stoopid.
The switches vs the touch screen has been well thought out. Getting the paint treatment at the dealer next week, keeping it clean till then. It was a bargain for the same thing aftermarket and lifetime warranty.
Getting ready to order some of the first Anti SMM mods to help de-SMM the vehicle.
Stay tuned.

Raising, lowering, taller tires, these will all be carefully considered overtime. Toyota has done such a good job of these very complicated design items i wont be changing any of them soon if ever. Of course having a fully built out Jeep with all of that and more i can say that.
These things are so excellent on the road. Front well drive bias of course helps a ton.

The idiot I Force Max label- gone.

The stereo adjusts up very nicely in the premium models. Found more plastic wrap hidden at the bottom of 2 more speakers. Peels off easily. No weird gremlins that are detectable at this time. Runs as expected, perfectly.

1-27-2025 170 mi to date.
Early AM back roads run. About 30 miles, a bit of stop and go. Normal drive mode. 18.3 mpg no matter what i did.
Easy does it for now but cruised at 50-60mph and some turns.
Don't like the ECO mode at all. Won't be using that any longer.

Just did an under hood noise listen while running from cold to warmed up. An obvious cycle that changes over several minutes. Nothing that sounds odd or out of place.
Sunny blue sky day here in NorCal after a week of rain.
Played with the sun roof. I really like it. Can't wait to burn one in the cab up in the sierras on a nice spring or summer visit.
The "premium" stereo needs tuning , after that was done it does sound very good for a vehicle system. the source material makes a huge difference. Some of the sources on board are much more compressed than others and some just bad replays. Others good. Need to figure out how to supply my own source material.
Didn't want to get it wet during the week of rain so it sat inside for about 6 days. Started fine.

@355 mi,.
Ran about 80 miles of errands this AM. On and off freeways, round town country roads.
Now getting 19.2 mpg average.
As it breaks in it keeps getting better mileage as expected. Very nice day, sunny blue skies, 50f, no wind.
Basically flat terrain with some rises. Normal mode, driving easy, a few decent passes on the freeway.
I keep liking this vehicle more and more.
2-10-2025 @450 miles.
Oil change & filter.
Decided to to a vehicle info reset for the short ride home. About 30 miles, easy freeway stuff, 65-70 mph, Normal drive mode, nice day,,,21.7 mpg.
3-02-2025
Some serious 75-80-mph sections on the 125 mile each leg, round trip, 250 total this week. No issues what so ever.
Mile avg 21.5 in normal mode.
The more i drive this thing the more i like it. Not remotely getting into the throttle yet, that will be another step of wonderment and decisions. Toyota has done an excellent job both the engineering, ergos and build quality.
Michelins to replace the Yokomama factory rubber shortly.
More soon.

@3300, all minor issues are gone. Drive train is smooth and much more seamless. Drives great and is very enjoyable. Love the tech and funess of the vehicle. Some mods coming, nothing severe it's a work vehicle till get a builder.
This was the correct vehicle for me at this time. Having a great dealer close enough by is very helpful and adds to the over all pleasantness. Done with the low end US dealers, the screw jobs are unacceptable..

Cancel the cross bar idea. Way too noisy on the freeway, moving on to another idea.Installed a set of roof rail cross over bars today. The factory set is very well made and finished. Apparently by Yakima.
Very pleased. Now i need to drill holes and install the catch nuts for another set spaced for the Rotopax fuel packs.
The factory rails are only drilled and capture nut equipped for x2 cross bars. Easy to fix for what i want to use them for.
The traction boards will go up there as well.
