2024 Land Cruiser First Edition
My wife turned me loose on the internet for a search for a "more aggressive" wheel/tire combination for her new Land Cruiser. She got tired of me sending wheel photos to her phone :) so much so that when I sent her photos of what I picked (she had okayed them earlier) she didn't even realize that the latest photos where of her LC. I really liked the look of a wheel made by Rays-Volks Racing and after reading about the lengthy lead times I just called a dealer to see what he had coming to which he replied: "if you're looking for the bronze version I have them in stock". Lit our VISA card on fire(bank called just to make sure) and they arrived the very next day (California to Phoenix area with free shipping and no sales tax). Rays-Volks Racing 17x8 ZE40X +20 and a trip to the local Discount Tire, BFG KO3 285/70R17 tires. When the sales guy at Discount Tire saw the Rays boxes he had his lead guy in the shop mount them.

Looks great, seems like Rays offsets don't produce as much poke as others in even more positive offsets. Yours are 1" wider than mine with +25 and still seem to have a flush fit like mine.

Yes, same as mine as far as poke, third set of Rays I've seen mounted with +20 or less positive and they still sit way flusher than other makers with more positive offsets.

I was very much wanting to get those wheels in a different color, but was too impatient for the wait times. Those look great and the weight and quality… sheesh. All I can tell myself now is that when I am off-road in compromising situations, I won’t be as anxious because the wheels I got did less financial damage. Congrats!

Wow, those look good! I'd be interested to hear how those tires do in the rain. I've run KOs and KO2s on every vehicle I've owned, but haven't had a chance to try out the KO3s yet.

I think what helps with these is that they are only 8” wide.
I missed that part. but that only equates to 8.7mm difference figuring offset, wheel width and with a 1" wider tire than mine those still look to be flush like mine although they should stick out about a 1/2" more.

Just interesting information to know for those who are wheel shopping, since every Rays setup seems to produce less poke than what others do from what I've seen posted on this forum, which would mean you can run less positive offset or a wider tire than most and still be flush.

My Volk Racing TE37 sticks out a lot more, 18X8.5 +22 with Geolandar AT4 265/70R18 installed last week and I’m not happy about it. Looking for reasonable fender flares but Jaos, Aimgain and 4X4 Engr,g are more than $1K per set.

As one of the largest aftermarket wheel mfgs in Japan, I doubt Rays uses some different measurements than others. Photos are likely a little deceptive.. From what I've seen, a plumb line from the fender is typically used to confirm that a fitment is flush. If you go on Rays website, in their current fitment chart for the LC250, they warn "protudes from fender" on everything below +50mm offset. Completely flush LC250 fitments according to Rays are > +50 offset. Interestingly, any fitments below +35, even with OEM size tires, are no longer recommended. IIRC, fitments as low as +0 used to be listed.

Your photos are reflective of what I would have assumed the level of poke would be at +22, but I agree with some of the posts above that the OPs look far more flush and without poke.

Where is a good source to buy Ray’s? Found only one dealer down in phoenix and the wheels i wanted had a 10-12 month lead time. Lol

Showstoppers

Stocking dealer. Had them in stock and shipped same day i ordered. Great service.

This solution may not be for everyone but it looks 100% better in my opinion. Bf didn’t mind the +25 poke but it was driving me crazy! 🤪

I used two rolls of Foam fender flares from amazon and while I still want beefier flares or new wheels, this has at least helped.

If anyone decides to go this route, clean your surfaces well! I did but there are a couple areas that appear to be losing grip so I picked up some 3M Adhesive that I’ll be using to reapply to those areas. If I was to do it again I’d probably apply the adhesive during installation.

Good luck!
