I prefer the premium package on the LC for many reasons. Leather (not available on the Over Trail...only NuLuxe). Physical buttons - virtually none in the screen driven Lexus. Shorter nose = better approach angle. Easier to modify suspension. Better MPG. Three zone climate control. Digital rearview mirror (only available on the Luxury+ GX). Locking rear differential only on the OverTrail. And more. Significantly lower cost than GX (the OverTrail + is $80K and closest to the premium package LC at $70K) and I get more of what I want.If your looking for premium, get a Lexus. I got the 1958 and love it. Not interested in paying extra for all the stuff I don't want. I've had my 1958 for a year with zero issues.
Welcome to the Jungle!Looking at both LC or a 4 runner presently have a 21 Rubicon 21 Ram both diesel and 1965 LC 40 being restored.
The articulation is better with the LC disconnecting sway bar than the GX KDSS as well.I prefer the premium package on the LC for many reasons. What does the GX have that I liked? Well, if it's all about engine sound, then you want the GX 550. I drove the 550 and liked the responsiveness of the engine. Massaging seats in the upper trim. Slightly more premium feeling interior (but, still not Leather...so not really premium, just premium feeling.) E-KDSS is nice (but also a disadvantage if you want to modify the suspension). If you get a third row, it's pretty useless unless you have small kids. Heated second row seats. Headlamp washers.
Both are great, depending on your preferences. While the GX and LC are similar in many respects, for an empty nester who wants to use the LC on the dirt and rocks, it wasn't a particularly tough decision.
And, did I mention how much I abhor the lack of physical controls? It's almost like Lexus/Toyota wants to distract us enough to crash a GX and get a new one.
