Hi All-
A few years ago, I downloaded a great graphical Maintenance Map for the 5th Gen 4Runner by "QC Runner" and blew it up as a poster in the garage. I've been tinkering to make one for our LC 250's. I think we all agree that Toyota's Maintenance Guide leaves a few things lacking and open to interpretation. I've put together version 1.0, that adapts much of the well-accepted practices from our forum and a few from "The Car Care Nut". Please review and give me your input (especially @EOD Guy - our resident "advanced owner"
).
This thread and this guide are not to spark anger or dissent amongst the troops, just healthy debate that can hopefully get us a nice guide that we agree upon. I will make changes as you find errors or we have healthy consensus on items and maybe this can become a sticky some day. Furthermore, as we hopefully put additional miles beyond 150K, we can add additional information.
I think we all agree that oil needs changing at least every 5K, if not, this guide is probably not for you.
Obviously I haven't added all the "Severe Conditions" recommendations, because these are different for each "Severe" use case and you should know if you are one of those (i.e. regular towing, or severe dirty, wet, dusty off roading).
My personal LC 250 is approaching 45K and I've already done spark plugs, front/rear-diff/transfer case fluid changes along with the obvious 5k oil change/rotation. I've replaced the air filters in the cabin/engine and hybrid vent filters.
I couple gray areas are:
-brake fluid interval - its never even a standard recommendation in the factory guide. Right now I've included an inspection at 20K and change every 40K.
-Transmission fluid drain and fill and/or complete flush interval. Right now I've included drain and fill at 60K, then complete flush and refill at 120K
-Coolant drain and fill or complete flush interval.
For the sake of space, I did not include the obvious "check your floor mat" or change wiper blades, since these are as needed.
