Has anyone figured out a good way to leave your fob with the truck while kayaking or surfing. I've seen things like https://www.amazon.com/HitchSafe-HS7000T-HS7000-Key-Vault/dp/B000I66JEM?th=1 but when I put my fob just inside the hitch, the truck still unlocks. It's possible that the added metal of the safe will be enough to keep it from unlocking, but wanted to ask before spending the cash on one.

Lock it with the fob, put the fob in sleep mode, hide it in the receiver hitch.
To put it in sleep mode; Press and hold the lock button, press the unlock button 2 times. to get it out of sleep mode press any button.

I use a magnetic proximity switch hidden on the outside of my LC, pass a metal (ferrous) object near it and my driver's door unlocks. The target area for the sensor is 1/2" in dia and has to be within 1/'4 of the target..... so very small target area and you have to know exactly where it's located before it'll activate. I keep a fob (in sleep mode) hidden in the interior.
I designed it for an anti-lock out vs don't want to carry the fob. The only draw back is, sometimes it will activate "not the same way I was locked" and the anti-theft siren will start blaring and you have to retrieve the hidden fob quickly to start the vehicle and get the siren to turn off. I had considered deactivating the alarm but, then figured if it wasn't me doing the unlocking, I'd want the siren to blare!
