If you are using an Apple Air Tag as a secret vehicle tracker to be used in the event of theft, then activating the Lost or Find Me feature will cause the tag to chime and give away its location. Apparently a thief can also cause it to chime. This video shows how to easily remove the speaker in the air tag to mute it. As I understand it, a thief can tell a tracker is in the vicinity but won't be able to localize where it is.
