How do you protect the "Plastic Hump" in the rear?

Hi all,

I’m getting a bit frustrated with the plastic on the rear center tunnel trim (honestly, I don’t even see the point of it being there).

My 8-year-old just can’t resist putting his foot on it and it’s already starting to show marks (cannot be seen in the picture).

How are you guys protecting this area? Do you use a small mat, carpet or something else?

Thanks!

Stickerfab has three different vinyl protection kits for the center hump for around $20.

Husky Liners second row mats also go across the center tunnel like the weathertech's, but neither of them protect the raised portion of the center tunnel trim piece unfortunately, which is where I suspect your son is placing his feet.

I have one of these, and even with the additional adhesion kit it has raised repeatedly in the middle. I'm not sure if it looks better or worse with big bubbles in it than scratches. That tight angle just doesn't seem to hold.

I have a very effective strategy for this very situation. Let 'em loose. Do nothing. Focus on the time with the kids.

I have two young kids in the back. When they make a mess and put footprints absolutely everywhere (the back of the seats top to bottom is a popular spot!) I take a deep breath and remember I didn't get a Land Cruiser to keep it clean. I got it to make memories.

The first day I got the cruiser, i picked up one of my kids and she stepped immediately on the seat and made a huge filthy foot print. She paused and looked at me with a scared look, but i smiled and told her "Don't worry about it, we didn't get a land cruiser to keep it clean!". But now that has backfired and every single time i'm like "JUST TRY NOT TO JUST SPILL HONEY INTO EVERY SINGLE CRACK PLEASE" she tells me "dad. we didn't get a Land Cruiser to keep it clean". dammit, you're right. as you were!

Story of my life! Although let em loose, do nothing could get dangerous over here. I at least hit them with “try to keep your feet where they’re supposed to go”. They also love putting their feet up on the door trim as a rest. Got the weather tech car seat mats and they work well to keep from dirt and damage from the car seat pressure.

Got the 1958 plastics and mats, but ultimately can never be completely bulletproof and the LC will be the LC!

Great advice. I want to go back and do it all over and do it better like that.

I like your approach — especially since I’m already feeling a bit blue about my kid growing up too fast. But really, it’s not the dirt that bugs me, it’s the scuffs and scratches that make the trim look like it’s been through a battle with little feet.

Finally ordered the WeatherTech mats as suggested. Been on the fence for a while, but figured they can’t hurt.

Thanks for all the advice!
