Evening all -

Just sharing a nice slider option to armor up your hitch. Looks really good and fits like a glove. I’ll have to bore out a new hole in the receiver shaft to keep it flush and tight (pushed all the way in to the bend in the slider). Very heavy duty and no wiggle at all once it’s pushed all the way in. This will be my permanent setup unless I’m using the hitch - good protection and may also save my bumper from a rough tap. Has a nice thin step for an added bonus.

Anyone with suggestions on the best way to hand drill out the new hole, or a recommendation on a shop that would knock this out for me?

This looks great! Saw your post in the other thread, but replying here in case anyone stumbles across this when researching this product.
How did you end up boring the extra hole?

Thanks! I picked up a two pack of 5/8 cobalt hole saw bits on Amazon for cheap and then marked the center point of where the hole should go with the hitch slider all the way in. Then I pulled it out and drilled a pilot hole with a cobalt bit and my Milwaukee Fuel drill, then the hole saw bits. Quick touch up with some rustoleum on the new hole and then I opted for a bolt as opposed to one of my locking hitch pins.

I have that same rugged Ridge hitch plate. Have used on my other 4x4's. Getting New LC in about two weeks. Question is if I dont drill out additional holes to flush fit, and let it sit out a bit, which i do on my other vehicles, it offers a little more protection from someone tapping the back of my vehicle. A little easier to step on. Your thoughts. Thanks

I think it’s just personal preference, I wanted it flush to avoid knocking my shins and getting in the way when accessing the hatch. Also liked the flush fit as it looked a bit more natural like it would be OEM. Give it a try on the pre drilled holes and know you have options if you want it more flush! 👍🏼
