GX550 Sun Visor Install

I decided to take a risk and purchase the driver side sun visor for a GX550 since the non extending LC250 sun visor has been an annoyance on road trips.

Install
The Install was super easy, just remove the plastic shroud covering the screws, unscrew the old and screw in the new. The connectors are slightly different in that the LC250 appears to be spring loaded and the GX550 is not. Other than that they are compatible and the vanity lights work as expected. The GX550 sun visor is made of a softer material and is a bit darker than the head liner. Its not very noticeable and well worth having the extending feature.

I only purchased the one since I couldn't find any prior examples of the swap and wasn't ready to risk over $400 on an experiment. Now that I know they fit I'll see how long it takes for my primary front passenger to complain that they want one too .

After a few southbound morning commutes, I have no regrets. I ended up placing an order for the passenger side which is inexplicably cheaper (~$145). Will give a fitment update once I have it in hand.

I just submitted @drewby for sainthood…and ordered a new visor.

Frustrating where Toyota cheated out the LC compared to the GX. Other items include lack of side dimming mirror and the only the front door unlocking with your key in the pocket. Pure cash grab.

I am going to have to go and check, I but I want to say that it slides out, but I am now not positive, that it is not plastic which slides out.

All my doors open with the fob in my pocket. I can’t remember for certain, but I believe it’s a setting through the head unit.
