I just returned from my first long trip in my LC FE. Myself and 3 other guys all rode together to hike and photograph that region of the country. In all, we covered about 2500 miles.
Here's what I observed:
1. I loved the overall ride and comfort of the LC on the open highway. It had good acceleration for passing, and the transmission felt and sounded mostly seamless.
2. All of the other guys remarked on the comfort of vehicle, even those in the back seat. Of course, some had been on trips and had to sit in the back of an FJ. So, the bar was low...
3. I appreciated the electronic offerings more than I thought I would, such as large display for navigation, digital rearview mirror (cargo area was packed to the ceiling), and all of the safety/cruise control features.
4. We quickly had to decide what to do about either the lack of a premium gas option in some areas or just the high cost of premium. We ended up just getting 87 octane for most of the trip. I never saw any decrease in performance, but it's hard to know what fuel economy would have been otherwise. I was getting 22-23 miles/gal on the open highway. I'm hoping to hit the magical 25 miles/gal mark one day with premium fuel in the tank again.
5. We took a few gravel roads but nothing needing 4 WD. So, I still need to fully test its capability in this area.
Overall, I was very pleased with the car and may have convinced an FJ owner and Bronco owner to look at the LC in the future. : )
Safe travels, y'all.
